Raimundo Juanes
Disco DJ (February 27th, 1963 - present)
Ray (Raimundo Juanes) started out as a Bartender with a great desire and love of DISCO music. His love eventually took him to the Deejay booth, where he learned his craft. A big lover of the PUNK/NEW WAVE movement, he started as a Deejay in TUTTLE'S AT THE CHARTER CLUB, where he incorporated that music into his everyday mixing. He played all around MIAMI, including such places as G-WHIZ, HOULLIHANS,TOP OF THE GROVE, CLUB MYSTIQUE, WAY OFF BROADWAY, SCARAMOUCHE, THE BOX OFFICE,THE FORGE, CLUB BEVERLY HILLS,THE FOUR AMBASSADORS and too many others to remember.
The art and craft of LIVE remixing fascinated Ray, and he worked hard at achieving perfection. He worked closely with such deejays as CIRO LLERENA, PETE DENIS and SCOTTY BLACKWELL, not a bad trio to learn from. His association with both the Florida Record Pool and Bill Kelly's FLAMINGO RECORD POOL always made sure he carried the latest releases. He loved to play "Experimental" music, and established himself as the local expert in different and unusual music.
His love of PARTIES made him in high demand as a MOBILE deejay as well, performing in the biggest and best BLOCK parties in the MIAMI area. He still has his record collection intact, and a full LAZAR light show to accompany him in his mobile gigs. Lets remember one of the top deejays in Miami during the decade of the eighties, Ray Juanes.

COMMENTS ON Raimundo Juanes
Thanks for the props!
I'd like to add that my mentor was and is Pete Denis. I've been lucky enough to have met him but blessed to be his friend. He took me under his wing and tought me his craft of turntable witchery and helped me become one of the best Miami Club DJ's of the 80's era.
He once told me that I had the "ear" and would be happy to teach me.
I give thanks that I was blessed with such an ear and the ability to observe and virtually duplicate complex mixing by others and adding my own enhancements. Not only could I do that but also created fresh untried mixes with music of totally different genres. I thank my mentor my friend "Pete Denis".
