Alan Hawkshaw

Disco musician and producer (b. 1950 - present)

disco There may be some out there who are wondering who is ALAN HAWKSHAW? How about if I told you that Hawkshaw is associated with a who's who's in music. Look at these names, OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN, CLIFF RICHARD, DAVID ESSEX, DONOVAN, SERGE GAINSBORG, JANE BIRKIN, MADELINE BELL, CERRONE, DONNA SUMMER, ALEC R. COSTANDINOS, LOVE & KISSES, EVELYN THOMAS, ROBERTA KELLY and DAVID BOWIE! Alan was either a musician, a producer or a writer of many of their hits.--I got to know ALAN HAWKSHAW when he released his own album and came to Miami to help its release. He wrote, arranged, produced and played all the instruments in his DISCO CLASSIC album HERE COMES THAT SOUND, calling his act, LOVE DE-LUXE.

A pianist by profession and choice, Alan Hawkshaw started in music in his native England. He was one of the best studio musicians throughout the 1960s. In the 1970s he was on OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN'S first two albums. He started to take off in 1973 with DAVID ESSEX'S ROCK ON. He also worked on the JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR soundtrack. He joined JANE BIRKIN and SERGE GAINSBORG on the classic French Ballad "Je T'Aime".

By 1976 Alan Hawkshaw arrived into the disco scene with DANCE DANCE DANCE by MADELINE BELL. But it was his work with the DISCO ICON CERRONE in LOVE IN "C" MINOR that opened the door for him. Soon he was working with DONNA SUMMER, and the legendary ALEC COSTANDINOS. He then became LOVE & KISSES! They were very successful obviously. Alan was quickly becoming a low-key superstar, preferring to stay in the background. Finally came a record deal with Warner Brothers, and he made the album HERE COMES THAT SOUND by LOVE DE-LUXE. It was soon a DISCO CLASSIC! But only after he got the legendary Jimmy Burgess to do the re-mix.

The DISCO era was on the verge of collapse, but ALAN'S career was far from over. He went back to his roots, and started working in studios again. Writing, producing and playing his keyboards. He stayed active for over twenty-five years, and now makes "MOOD" music???? Let's hear it for Alan Hawkshaw, DISCO'S most famous pianist. HERE COMES THAT SOUND, again and again.
