YOUR COMMENTS ON Ted Currier

I used to call him "The Pause King" back during his Mix Show days on Radio!

Excellent!

He would keep that razor with him at all times. He called me from Detroit when he and George were doing Atomic Dog. Glad he's doing fine. Ted was a major influence on club music with the fly boys and of course he produced Atomic Dog, a true legend of the era.

My name is Barry and I am an old friend of Ted's. When he used to do the disco radio show, he used my office (Graebar Productions), the company who did the sound for 12 West, Troc. Saint, etc.
The previous comment about Ted and his razor cutting slices is all so true. He obviously did it to make his music perfect which it was. He was a character but a great guy.If anyone knows where to reach him, please let me know.
thanks

My name is Andres from Williamsburg, Brooklyn in New York. If memory serves me right Ted Currier was my inspiration for listening to Disco music back in the late 70's. The WBLS Saturday Night Dance Party was my biggets reason for staying up late. I would write to the radio station, requesting a list of the songs Ted played. I had amassed a collection, any DJ would be proud to own.

Ted Currier was the best mix-DJ I have ever heard. He was, and still is, my idol. I went on to start a production company (BSG Productions LLC (bsidegourmet.com) and a "world dance" group called Samann (soundclick.com/Samann). Would love to meet him someday and thank him.

Ted Currier was a master of disco blendig. It was his gift for fading a song into the next with impeccable timing and control, keeping the records on beat to a point where they would cancel each other-Truly a lost art in mixing!!!

Boy, I have to chime in on the Ted Currier praise. The man truly was an artist with a great imagination. When'BLS had the "Special Musical Mix" during the week at Midnight in the early 80s, it was really the special treat. I echo the thoughts of many, he was 1 of my biggest inspirations to Dee-Jaying (is there such a word?).
Thanks Benny

WOW!!!! I was browsing the Internet and Ted's name pop into my head, I did a Google search and was surprised to see how many people remember him. He was a master!!! at mixing, I used to listen to his mixes on WBLS,I would also go to the FUN HOUSE to hear him play and he was even better live.I was always amazed by his skills. It is also true I have never in my 35 years of DJing heard a DJ who can even come close to matching his skills. if anyone has any of his mixes I would be willing to compensate for a copy, any format tape CD etc....

Ted was more than a great DJ, he was a terrific producer. I worked with with him on a bunch of Sweet Sensation and Tony Terry sessions at Unique Recording and went out to his place in Kew Gardens. What a great guy. The music he produced still sounds awesome. Where the hell is he today?

I heard some bad news about Ted, He passed away two months ago, I was really sad to find this out. Really a great fan of his in the earily 80's. he will be greatly missed!!

Ted Currier was the best! Nobody blended songs like he did, I have a tape from a WBLS late night mix from 1980, it still brings chills! I always imagined Ted was in an airplane fighter's cockpit pulling the big lever when he was doing his mixes. My brother Steven and I even named our dj company after his mixing style: The Perfect Mix. Ted was(is) the best!!!!!!

I was Ted's very close friend, neighbor and classmate 1967-1967 (in 2 schools).

I knew Ted's beautiful Mother and we spent many years hanging as small kids.

Later I was in the music industry (managed Top 40 Jazz group on Polydor, etc.), and was Ted's buddy / professional fotog (and in-studio, 'feed-back', recording / beat tester) in 1978-1980 (the Paco KTU / Frankie BLS, Billboard Disco Forum IV, Funhouse, Tunnel & Paradise Garage days).

When Ted became a VP of EMI, I also went other ways with my career and into Television.

Frankly, I have been looking for Ted for 10 years now and am very shocked and saddened to hear from this thread that Ted may have just passed away and I may have missed seeing him again, before he passed away.

In an often crooked and wild '70s industry, Ted was a SUPER hardworker and brilliant, great, kind, and for real, human being, who as a 'mixed-race' person, often overcame racism from all sides to work with everyone and make everyone feel comfortable in many, many, win-win situations.

If anyone can e-mail me the details of Ted's passing to me via this Forum, please be so kind as to do so.

I am a Television network executive and am always travelling, so please understand, as it might take me a few days to return your message.

With Great Appreciation,

Thanx.
