YOUR COMMENTS ON Ernesto McKenzie Phillips

Growing up in Atlantic City, NJ as a teen in the early 80s. We loved funk music. Starpoint, Cameo, Slave, ConFunkShun, Gap Band, Parliament/Funkadelic and many others were staples in the cars, radios and boom boxes. Starpoint 45s were apart of my early record collection. He will be missed.

"I just wanna be with you" was the first time I heard STARPOINT. ERNESTO was largely responsible for them. I met him at FRANKIE HOLLYWOOD'S in May or June of 1980 where they were performing. He was a very personable young man, who was thrilled at the path his life was taking. He didn't know how long it would last, and soaked it all up, enjoying every minute of it. It is sad that he is gone, but we can always throw on a STARPOINT record to hear him again. God Bless.
