YOUR COMMENTS ON Sergio Munzibai

Sergio Munzibai along with remix partner John Morales were amoung my favorite remixers of the 80's, when remixing meant just that: REMIXING the master to bring out different elements of the original production. Minimal additional production/overdubbing was done.
I loved the latin percussion that M&M would have added in by Louis Jordan. None the less the original production shined through loud and clear.
I was sorry to here of Munzibia's passing, and now even more sorry that he died in his 40s. Not happy about this!

I remember Sergio At BLS. He along with Timmy Regisford( The Regisford Kid) Gave the my opportunity to start doing BlS Lunch Mixes and Dance party hours at night. Sergio was always a good guy and loved music.

It was Sergio Munzibai, Timmy Regisford and Jonathan Ferring mastermixing everything on WBLS. Even if you heard the song so much you were sick of it, when these brothers did their thing, you listened up like you were hearing it for the first time. And everytime..you were.

He was one of the stars that emerged from DISCO. He wasn't one when he started as a deejay. When it was allover by 1980 Sergio Munzbai was a re-mix star. He was a main player at WBLS in the early eighties. He is credited with bringing FREESTYLE into the forefront. I remember his many re-mixes with John Morales. M&M, remember?? GOD BLESS>

When I was younger I used to help Sergio take his records to many NYC locations as a small boy at the time I was about 15 or so. The Rainbow Room, Roxy, Studio, you all the the places. He taught me a little. The life of my cousin seemed so interesting and fun. He was the most creative member of the family, so much love flowed from him. His advice to me was always good, except for the one "not" to go into the business of music. He really was against it...I recall it well! Was it good advice at the time? Well...Sergio I have to disagree. I LOVE MUSIC.
I still have his picture. I miss him dearly to this day. To the end he was always giving.

The Gods of Music have received their mixing Angel thank you for the music you left, it will always stay with us.

We love you Cuz and miss you.

Pump it up in the disco heavens!
