Divine was in the John Waters film, Hairspray. I loved Hairspray. Ricki Lake was good in that but Divine was great.

I remember a performance by divine in a dicotheque in Utrecht(holland). this was when shoot your shot was about to shoot the charts. A heavily overweighted dragg-queen, who after his performance came from backstage wearing a pantyhose over his hair. amazing performance but with a total bummer at the end.

I have a dumb question so humor me, but is this the same Divine that did the song 'Native Love' in the 80s?

Wonderful performer and is missed very much.

DIVINE!!! What a character? He was Flaming, flamboyant and fuckin scary looking!!From eating dog poop in a John Walter's movie to eating everything that fit in his mouth. Outrageous and insane, I saw him in Miami's FIRE & ICE in the early eighties. He put on a show that words can't describe. Think of anything outrageous, he did that and more. What a foul mouth as well! On stage he sounded like a drunken trucker trying to pick up a cheap hooker at a truck stop. All that aside, he was a poster child for transvesties, a great representation of the word FREEDOM. He was a STAR for the far-out personalities of America, and he made a few DISCO recordings that were classic if not CLASSICS. May he rest in peace, the world will miss this EXPERIENCE!!
