Radio / Disco DJ and television show producer (June 11, 1941 - present)
Ron Joseph is a U.S. born disco DJ and television show producer known for his dance shows. Also known as RJ, Ron Joseph has been involved in aspects of the media from publishing and editing a local newspaper in his home town to owning and operating several low-power television stations in the Philadelphia area.
Ron Joseph began his broadcasting career in 1950 on a children's show on a Philadelphia TV station and went on to become a regular on Dick Clark's Bandstand.
After high school, Ron was hired by a local radio station and quickly rose from being a DJ to general manager.
After a decade in radio, Ron moved to television, producing and hosting a nationally-syndicated teen dance show.
Ron also managed several Hollywood actors and owned discos/dance clubs in Philadelphia and on the West Coast.
After disco fell out of public favor, Ron got out of the dance club and management businesses and got back into television, owning and operating three stations in the Delaware Valley.
Reruns of Ron's dance shows ran on those and other TV stations in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
After selling his last TV station, Ron went back to his first love, radio, and being a DJ.
To this day, Ron Joseph has been hosting a weekly radio show featuring classic disco tracks each Friday night.
Ron Joseph is also an inductee in the Disco DJ Hall of Fame and is a longtime member of Broadcast Pioneers.
