Gary Glitter

Rock-Disco Artist (b. 19--(??) - present)

disco After talking to some of the veterans of the DISCO era, I decided that it is time we knew a little more about Gary Glitter. Maybe the name sounds familiar, but you can't put a face or a song to it. After you read this, and discover for yourself, you'll never forget him.

In 1971 and 72, Gary Glitter pioneered "GLITTER-ROCK", later known as DISCO-ROCK along with such people as David Bowie and Suzi Quatro. Within a few years, his live performances became like PEP RALLIES (You'll soon understand why), with his fans going crazy. His first try at music failed under the name SHANE FENTON. When he met Mike Leander, a producer, they came up with an idea, a GLITTER-full rock and roll star. It worked.

Gary then came up with a few simply great ANTHEMS. ROCK AND ROLL, PART ONE which is played in every arena and stadium across the world. Another anthem is DO YOU WANNA TOUCH ME? (OH YEAH) also joins the list of ARENA favorites. Two more cult favorites, I DIDN'T KNOW I LOVED YOU (TILL I SAW YOU ROCK AND ROLL). and the ever popular ROCK AND ROLL, PART TWO. Along with QUEEN'S "We are the Champions", these songs are standard in high school and college gyms. That is who Gary Glitter is!!
