Mini Interview with Gloria Gaynor (2007)

DiscoMusic.com member Dayna conducted a brief question and answer interview with Gloria Gaynor in September of 2007. Here it is:

(Dayna)-Gloria, Thank you so much for taking the time to do this brief interview We're always interested in what you have been doing because Disco wouldn't be the same without you...

1-(Dayna)-Of all the artists that you have worked with which ones would you love to work with again and who would you say is your favorite person to share the stage with?

(Gloria Gaynor)- The artists I'd love to work with again are Tavares, Michael McDonald, J.T. Taylor, Kool and the Gang. My favorite person to share the stage with is Michael McDonald.

2-(Dayna)-I'm going through a divorce so "I Will Survive "is a very uplifting and apropos song for this situation, how does it make you feel to know that your song has helped and lifted many people through tough times empowered them and helped them to move on ?

(Gloria Gaynor)- It makes me feel great. It helps to give meaning and validity to my career.

3-(Dayna)-What city would you say you like performing in the best, be it be due to the energy, the venue etc?

(Gloria Gaynor)-New York is definitely the best City in the world to work in. Like the man said, "if you can make it there, you can make it anywhere."

4-(Dayna)-I saw VH1's 100 top dance records of all time where "I Will Survive" was number one.
That's fantastic and so well deserved; you had to be pleased with that even though the song has won many other honors?

(Gloria Gaynor)-It was quite an honor, an accolade I never expected.

5-(Dayna)-Gloria you are so involved in so many different charitable events, how do you find the time to do all that you do and still manage to give so much back?

(Gloria Gaynor)-I've got a lot of help in a fantastic Vice President of Operations (Stephanie Gold) in my office.

6-(Dayna)-I hear you have a new gospel CD coming out please tell us about it?

(Gloria Gaynor)-It will be recorded and released next year, if all goes well. It will have a few traditional songs, perhaps a duet or two, a guest appearance or two and a lot of original songs.

7-(Dayna)-do you have any plans to do any R& B or dance records in the near future. Everyone at DiscoMusic.com is dying to know this?

(Gloria Gaynor)-I do want to do more disco and R & B, but after the Gospel.

8-(Dayna)-What do you think about artists covering Disco Songs and remaking them into dance hits again ,such as Jody Watley taking The Chic cover of "I Want Your Love to number 1 on billboard dance or Thelma Houston covering Sylvester's "Dance(Disco Heat)/You Make me Feel etc?

(Gloria Gaynor)-I think it's great that they give new life to those songs. It just shows how great the songs were.

9-(Dayna)-I love your website www.GloriaGaynor.com It's very beautifully done and Now everyone that comes through DM.com will know how to get to it..
Please let us know anything else that is new in your life we can never get enough Gloria Gaynor ~!!!

(Gloria Gaynor)-If you've been to the sight and really looked it over, you know all there is to know right now.

(Dayna)-Gloria, Thank You again for taking the time to do this brief interview, Good luck with your upcoming projects, we love you and as always wish you the best.

(Gloria Gaynor)- Dayna, Thanks for giving me the opportunity to speak to your public.
