May 03, 10 | 8:25 pmOn the Swing label I released Karen Young and her "Hot Shot" (Tiro Caliente). We made it happen on the floor and on the radio (both popular and pop) all over Colombia. I signed up the license with Mel in NYC. Back then. First hearded in Disco Forum (remember). Jackie V came with me to the West End offices.

Nov 25, 08 | 8:44 amAh yes, good ol' West End Records. My favorite from them is "Let's Go Dancin'" by Sparque. That's still a sure nuff show stopper, but very tricky to mix!!!

Mar 21, 07 | 12:53 pmmeldeejay,
Thanks for the heads up on the Black Riot track. Do you have the catalogue #? Will add it to the discography above real soon. If it's on West End (US) then it will be added above so feel free to make us aware of any other missing West End Records releases.

Mar 21, 07 | 11:16 amI didnt know whether to send this email as this particular track is a HOUSE classic rather than a DISCO classic.
"Just Make That Move" by Black Riot 1992
on WestEnd records. An amazing piece of U.S. House music from the legendary Todd Terry. A WestEnd anthem!!!!!
(loving your website totally AWESOME!!!)

Dec 04, 05 | 1:12 pmWest End Recoerds was one of the earlier indie labels during the disco era. Along with TK, Salsoul, Casablaca and then came Prelude. For me that was the best.West End Records released quite a few jams in the early days of hip hop. No rap records. Rappers were rappin over the disco breaks... Hot Shot was one track I remember playing during the park jam days.
I own a few west end 12''s. Always searchin for more..I must say though "Ride on the Ryhthm" has to be my favorite track by mohagany... Years ago i found "Don't i ever cross your mind sometime" by Barbara Mason sealed. West End Records till today holds its weight in classic disco music.. Always lookin for more..

Dec 25, 04 | 8:15 pmthank you oh!!!! thank you for this real magic sounds ,I AM FAN and I have all tracks ,musicians play very good all the time with "sensitive feeling" many styles of influences in soul/jazz are detectables in a final "disfunky" songs..in french we say "ca transpire le groove" !!
best end records,
dj satchmo (lyon,france)

Disco @ half strenght without the existence of west end..but for some strange reason their jams were a challenge to mix...example: work that body, tanya gardner, sessomatto, is it all over my face, sparque's lets go dancin, how funny sex can be sound track..hmm even the great walter gibbons scratched his head,..when i jammed the five boro's i had many followers who wanted to not only be a disc jock but also play in my style of uplift..well i would give them a shot and sneak them a west end record to mix , and wala! totally change their ambitious "girl's getting minds"..teehee!! so i was a meanie..sue me! lol
