Default Question for Mixologist.

Is it considered "played out"(or Anitquated) to start your Mix off with a theme?.......There was a time when all Mixologist started with a theme. For Example I would start my Mixes off with a famous quote from Martin L. King ......or if I was feeling "goofy", I would start off with something from Richard Pryor or Redd Foxx. Does anyone do this anymore....most of the mixes katz give me start of with only music(no personality) :( ......I think that themes add personal character to the mix.

Let me know your opinion.
Thanks

Default nah, I don't think it's old fashioned...

I sample ads off tv, movies... the whole shebang, whatever :)
it all depends on what era i'm playing out with & to...

I can remember a time when djs (including myself) did do creative things such as this....Unfortunely the audience(s) I play for now would only wonder "What the hell is he doing now!!??" I say keep doing what you're doing and maybe it will start a creative trend....but then again...

My own take on it.....very passé and never that clever or entertaining. Jokes, pure voice etc become 'known' very quickly and therefore become boring/irritating that much easier.
