Hello everybody - i was wondering which compression codec if any is good for storing 44.1 and 96 audio on my pc. I keep running out of space with wave files and I don't like MP3. Just wondered if anyone has a codec they would recommend which is lossless but offers reasonable reductions if file size.

Give Apple Lossless a try. See >>> http://www.discomusic.com/101-more/3274_0_7_0_C64/

OK thanks Bernie - I thought about auditioning AC3 but I'll see how this goes first.

- Apple lossless (probably based on eMagic's discontinued ZAP format) - FLAC (free, open-source) - Monkey's Audio (free, PC-only last time I checked) - WMA lossless (proprietary, PC-only) There are others, but I've yet to try them.

I had tried FLAC but the files were only playable on "winamp" which i'm not interested in . Just added Apple lossless to db poweramp converter.
