Hello Everybody, I have a Tascam 112R which is a professional production/mastering cassette (or tape) recorder originally released in the 1980's, early 90's (i think). It's just like any other home tape recorder except that this one cost hundreds of dollars more and is meant for studio mastering use. The problem I have with this one is that when I press the PLAY button it attempts to play but never does. It tries to a bit, but then stops trying. Trust me, it is not stuck because this recorder was only used about less than 50 times in its lifetime. It's practically still new. The proof is in the fact that the Rewind and Fast Forward work fine. What could be the possible causes? Please help? I provided a link below to see how it looks like if that helps, which I doubt: http://www.geocities.com/stevieboy32808/ Sincerely, stevieboy32808

I am replying to myself which is pretty sad, but let's just assume nobody knows the answer to my problem and consider this and open and shut case. It's really hard to find someone who fixes tape decks in Florida, which is why resorted to asking you guys. Anyway just wrote back to let you know not to worry about the question.

It's hard to tell from the photo but I think the unit is solenoid-controlled. Open it up carefully and see if there are any visibly loose wires that may be affecting the connection to drive system. Tascam has a website - http://www.tascam.com/Support.html Good luck!
