Hi! I'm looking for a mixer with built-in CD players. Yesterday I saw a couple of models by Numark, the CD-1 and the CD-2. From what I saw the CD-2 seemed to be more along the lines of what I would like. The salesman at the store said they are going to have a sale next week and that I could get a brand new one of these for $500. The retail price yesterday was $649.

Does anybody have any experience with this mixer? Would you recommend it for home use? I'm just looking for something to play with at home, not for profesional use.

Another option the salesman pointed out was to get a mixer and two separate CD players. He showed me a pretty basic mixer for $39 (I can't remember the brand name but it begins with "B"... "BEsomething") The guy said that it's a very good mixer for the price and that the brand name is really good.

He showed me two different brands of CD players: one was an American DJ, the other an Stranton (Straton?). They both seemed to be OK. Both were right around $150 each player.

However, the CD players that I liked are an American DJ model that has a number of features I like: echo, reverb, phaser, flash, and looping among others. Those players are almost $700 each! I think the model is CD-1.

Any suggestions, comments, or recommendations? I'd appreciate the input.

Hi Ricardo,

all I can say - Numark stuff are pretty good. I use to make some parties with Numark's equipment. It works good and easy. I'm not sure about its prices. To me seems very expensive but worth to get.

Easy,

Blaxman

Hello Ricardo, I own a Numark CD-1. I enjoy it as it allows me to have my two turntables, a mixer and two 'pitch controlled' cd players in my home booth. The cd/mixer combo is great as to hook it up for parties all you need is your amp and speakers vs. hooking up two cd players to a mixer!! I used it on several mixes on Bernie's site (when he was able to play them without 'Big Brother' sniffing for royalties) and was able to combine vinyl and cd's with no problems. I picked my Nummark up on a Web 'DJ equiptment' site. I have been more than happy with the ease, quality and layout of the controls on the mixer and cd players. I highly recommend this Numark cd/mixer combo. P.S. I got mine for $399.00. I wouldn't spend more than $500.00 for a mixer/cd combo or for a dual cd player to hook up to a mixer. Hope this info helps!

Thank you Phil. I'll take your advice into consideration; it is the kind of feedback I'm looking for. I am still deciding between the 2 separate CD players hooked up to a mixer and the Numark CD-2. I like the separate Cd players I saw because of the neat features they have (flanger, phase, reverb, echo, etc.) It's a tough choice determined by my budget!

Your welcome Ricardo, I like the cd player/mixer I have because of the one piece design of it. I wanted a compact unit that would allow me to do what I can do with 'vinyl'. Special features weren't something I was looking for at the time of my purchase or even today. The Numark is 'compact', 'small' and does everything that I can do with a turntable (except for a 'back spin' or a 'crash' - by hitting the 'stop buttton' on the 1200's). Glad to hear my info helped you. All the best, DJ Phil
