| I wasn't already very keen on Microsoft products but now they really blew it for me! A month ago I installed the WMA 11 version on my home PC. Very nice look, lots of tools! Great! But...last week I wanted to hear some vibes. Now I've been copying all my CD's on hard disk over the last years. It comes out very handy when you don't want to search for the CD everytime. I wanted to play 'em and NADA. Error-error-error! I opened my REAL player and whoppa, the same thing happens! After a search I discovered the problem. As I only copy genuine CD's that I bought (believe me, as we are playing music in public and pay for the rights, we are regularly visted by inspectors), I use the copy protect. Now the 11 version is denying the right to play ripped music that is copied and licensed under the 10 version!!!! Can you believe that??? So the dorks of Microcrap are simply saying that I'm a pirate now! CD's which I HAVE PAYED FOR!!! I reinstalled the 10 version, I deleted every program of the 11 crap and now everything works again. But....my next one (in a few months) will be And BTW XP SP2 sucks too! And they can stick their Vista where the sun ain't shining! CAPICE? |

Apple isn't a DRM-free company either. And BTW, I found XP S2 to be more stable than the current version of OS X. |

| Graham, it's not the DRM that bothers me. It's the fact that when I had installed the 11 version, I couldn't play a damn thing anymore! So why didn't MS handle that prob? I can accept that they are battling piracy but why do they trick on genuine customers? I put DRM on because my godchildren, God bless 'em, were sharing my collection with their friends and as I'm controlled by SABAM (Belgian ASCAP) I got a warning for this! Now it's a Home PC but before it was serving in the cashboxes ! Since I installed XPS2, I was facing trouble with Outlook, my internetconnection is sometimes shut off (although I use a very good Security program) and other probs. It doesn't affect Thunderbird which I'm using permanently now. And yes, I did shut down the Antivirus from SP2. I don't know what was causing all that trouble. |
