| If you are referring to the turntable, it appears to be a Rega Planar series, which could be from the late 1980s onward. The receiver is the old quad Pioneer QX-747A from the 1970s.

| Hey Bernie, what's your impression of Rega, specifically their glass platter tables? Are those platters heavy enough?

| Rega turntables are very nice and reasonably priced British audiophile turntables. I have an acrylic platter on my VPI so the glass platter on the P3 should be plenty heavy with enough mass to keep it rotating smoothly. Was almost going to get a Rega P3, but bought the VPI Scout as the stock RB300 arm on the Rega is somewhat limited. I owned an RB300 briefly and it was beautifully made, but there was no way of easily adjusting VTA without adding crude spacers or adaptors so I returned it. For under $1,000. (US) one can't go wrong with a Rega-and they come in some funky colors. Above that then do take a look at the American made VPI turntables, which are wonderful.

| The VPI uses an acrylic table, interesting! Based on your reaction, the sound quality must be very good. My table choices would definitely fall in under $1000 class. My concern is how compatible they'd be with my old high compliance Micro-Acoustics 2002 cartridge.

| Not familiar with your Micro Acoustics cartridge, but the RB300 on the Rega mates fairly well with most carts. Check some Rega user groups to see what they say about that combo. Plenty of reasonably priced Rega decks on eBay if you want to get yourself a Christmas present
