Default cleaning the cartridge brush

Hey, I recently bought a new needle for my turntable from TurntableNeedles.com. Its a real good one and has the dust brush on it. Well, I never had a dust brush cart like this before. so the question is, after playing a record, whats the best way to clean it? So far Ive been doing it like this: I use my index finger and thumb and pull the dust ball off. Should I be doing it a better way?

Sounds like you got a Shure cartridge for your turntable. I had the old V15 Type V-MR and I always used the stiffer handheld stylus brush across the needle and cartridge brush going from back to front.

Guys, I also remember Stanton made cartridges with dust brushes.
I would clean the brush with a brush used to clean the stylus. I suppose your method is fine so long as your hands are clean and oil free.

Over the months Ive learned that combing it with the corner of a piece of firm paper works best.
