| Interesting discussion. I have a Sony KV-36XBR450 whose video board just went.So I was trying to decide whether or not to spend the $500.00 to fix it or move into the new technology. My Sony had a phenomenal picture before it went and after reading MixMachine's comments I'm seriously thinking of repairing it and waiting things out.

| originalbigm, I too have a Sony crt tv. It's my main TV. It's a 27"er. I don't know the model number. I've had it for 7 years and it still has a great picture. My main reason for upgrading is I'm watching more dvds lately and I generally prefer widescreen dvd. To see the movie better I figured it's time to look into 42" monitor. Besides, I have a very nice surround system and I figured it needs a bigger screen to match it's big sound

| Update: Today they've delivered the stuff. The LCD does the job very well. No problems with colours/images whatsoever. And Paul, naked xxx-boobies do look bigger, so it's worth it The sound is very warm too. I also tested the Sony DVD-recorder that came with it and it simply is amazing what you can do with such a machine. Taping on hard disk, taping on DVD-RW. If you watch something and the phone rings, you press a button and afterwards you simply pick up where you left. Plays all type of discs too and you can copy from hard disk to DVD. Marvellous! | I'm glad you're happy with your purchase Johan. :D By the way, you and I know I want that big screen for porn. You don't have to tell the whole world  I can only imagine what Kaylani Lei looks like on a 42"er! 8)

| Bernie, do you have any experience with the Hitachi plasmas? They make a 1024x1080i 42" display.

| Never dealt with Hitachi plasma TVs, but they have merged with Fujitsu, which makes excellent panels. My sister has an older 50" Fujitsu plasma and it looks great considering it is older technology. Magnolia sells Hitachi so you should be able to check it out against the Pioneer Elite.

| Just bringing this thread up again since I'm extremely close to actually taking the plunge myself now. I have my eyes set on a SONY KDL 32 S 2000K - it's a 32" LCD which just happens to be on sale over here. Any knowledge about this particular model? Bernie, Mix or others? I'm quite picky about screen response time but do not have unlimited money to use on this. Thanks in advance. |

| K, we've just bought the V-series 32" and we are damn satisfied of it. It's a very good choice price/quality. |

| Yeah reading through the thread made me realize you got a Sony LCD. I may do the same thing if I can get a good deal (which I'm pretty sure I can) In general people seem satisfied with Sony LCD's on the net but I couldn't find a review on this particular model. How much did you pay for yours Video? The one I have my eyes on goes for appr. 1350 euros - I take it the V and S series are practically the same thing? |

Here is the online site, http://avguide.com/ The Perfect Vision In the latest issue they include a small article “Sharpening up you flat panel savvy” one tip I learned about LCD ”If you tend to watch sports or fast action material and you have decided on LCD panel, make sure it’s response time is less than 8 milliseconds or less. This avoids the problem of motion lag that can plague LCDs.” http://avguide.com/features/bg-flat-...nels-index.php They include reviews of 3 new LCDs models/brands and a Hits and Pioneer Plasma. The Olevia 532H 32” LCD (1366x768) is an inexpensive brand (1K usd) Excellent color and detail, Menu Sys confusing , Shadow detail lacking. The Samsung LN s4092D 40” lcd (1366x768) gets good marks in color and “Better black level than many LCDs” but expensive (3299.00 usd) Sharp LC-37D90U 37” LCD (1920 x 1080) Superb detail, excellent color , mediocre black level and video processing (2999.00 usd) Check out this threads where they talk about your SONY KDL 32 S 2000K, I haven’t read them yet, so I don’t know if they are of any value, but they usually tech me something new.. SONY KDL 32 S 2000K forum SONY KDL 32 S 2000K settings forum I'd still go with Plasma |

| Im not familiar with the "Perfect Vision" magazine, but I'll look into whether it's available over here. Checked the forums a bit, I'm gonna browse through some of the threads made there and see if there's some info worth knowning about. Anything bigger than 32" is out of the question though. I simply do not have the room for it. Anyway, thanks guys...i'll let you know how this turns out. If you have anything more to add, feel free to do so. |
