Default You Tube Question

Whenever I try to watch a video on You Tube, it keeps freezing after every 10 seconds or so. Has anyone else had this problem?

I even tried the computer at the library and it did the same thing.

NRG, yes, the videos sometimes freez. Usually it's a cache-problem or the fact that youtube has become so immensely popular that too many people are connected and slow down their servers.

Or, maybe Graham has another idea?

this happened to me from the first time I discovered the site, it is because the "downloading" is not fast enough and the real time player catches up with the download to soon, so the solution is to hit the "pause" and come back later after the complete video finishes downloading, then you can play it without interruptions, I open many at the same time and go back to play the first one while the rest are still downloading. Oh, yes watch out for the irregular volume!!:( your last YOUtube player volume setting is kept in memory, unlike this other FLV player I downloaded to play the ones I downloaded to my PC that keeps defaulting back to the max volume :(

Does anyone know how to post a Youtube video in a forum? Whenever I try, it just shows the code, but I know it can be done- I've seen it out there. I want to post this video on flying cars. Is this bullshit of for real? It smells. :O http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RFfbk25gjs8

GD, I don't understand your question. We all place links like you just did in this thread. The videos are copy-protected so we just deeplink. Just edit your previous post, delete the link and open a new thread. It's a great clip, so go for it :)

I don't want to sound severe but Mixmachine, did you notice that some of those vids you're downloading are subject to copyright issues and by watching them for free you may be hurting the interests of the kind people who made them in the first place

:-P

Since YouTube became so popular there's a discussion going on about the copyrights. The management is trying to persuade all companies to allowe thes clips and excerpts. I'm afraid this will be the new Napster/Kazaa affair.

But hey, it's on the net, we just link here. The people who actually post those (mostly) copyright clips on the site itself they should be worried. But I can't imagine that the various recordcompanies are not aware of this success. However, the Silver Convention clips were retracted due to legal reasons. Probably NOB-Holland or WDR-Germany, the TV-stations that are the rightful owners of the material.

Downloading the stuff on your PC however is tricky but then we come to the old discussion: if you are desperately looking for something and you can't find it anywhere-will you download it from the net?????? Not an easy question hey :-o In fact you can only download 'em with special programs so it's not really the purpose of YouTube to provide them to you. Only to be watched by you!

Let's see how that site developes!

I've also had videos freeze a few times but they then continue automatically. By the way, I'd like to share that one of the videos brings me to tears every time I watch it, and I bet I've watched it about a dozen times so far: it's Alison Moyet's live performance of "Only You". The song is almost too beautiful to exist, and the performance takes my breath away.

I understand that I can play the deeplink, but I was wondering about cutting an pasting in the embedd HTML- that code appears, but the play doesn't. No worries, mate.

I see what you mean now. No, you can not paste in raw HTML code (anything within angle brackets) anywhere in the forums. You can only paste in the naked link.

:p:p, Good one guys , I’m busted!!!!:p:p:p I actually never even thought to much until now about this new issue Youtube has raised, I was more interested in testing this new Firefox plugin that allows you to download videos from many sources, a new toy; but in any case rest assure I wont be bothering to much with any youtube downloading, as lousy vhs clips with horrible video/audio are not my thing.

But really, Youtube is not quite the same thing, is it ?, (not yet anyways) the legality of this new Youtube phenomenon is still up in the air and will probably be debated much more than Napster since now we are talking Video, Music and the original broadcasters rights that own this clips and may or may not hold the ‘copyrights’ at this point after 20-30 years, a very complex and difficult legal international mess.

On the other hand the copyrights of lyrics and music are clearly protected and enforced, and the ‘owners’ have repeatedly expressed their objections to downloading and distributing their property from the very beginning. No discrepancies there what so ever.

As far as I can tell it seems Youtube allows users to download their content (for personal use) as they are listed (along with many other sites including Google Videos, MySpace.com etc) as ‘supported’ sites for the FireFox video downloader plug in, besides, some copyrights holders are forcing the removal of their copyrighted property, I have no problem with that and you wont see me cussing them online or demanding “rights” I clearly don’t have like some people I know.;)
