Alternatives for the cleaning liquid - Permostat?

Hey,

Cleaning 12inch vinyl:

Back in the 80s I used Permostat, as the best I've tried back then. Now I'm having a hard time buying it in denmark, germany, sweden. Is there any good alternatives to Permostat, that can be bought in any of the mentioned countries, and that works the same way?

I have also thought of making some DIY liquid. Like mixing Destilate water, 90% Isopropolalco and a few drops of washing-up liquid. But I'm not very convinced on the result. How am I gonna dry the record? Is car-waxing paper good enough for wiping the record, without adding static electricity?

But Mostly, I just wanna buy some super liquid in europe is possible, best in germany, denmark or sweden. And a good cleaning brush or something that can be used to apply the stuff.

Don't worry about static electricity. Get a "Antistatic Gun". I still use mine that I baught 1975. I think I have seen similar somewhere on the web but I can't remember where.

They still make them :P

Thanks Noman, but I already have an antistatic gun, though I don't use it anymore as my biggest problems isn't statit electricity. Its more a general cleaning problem I have, you know with fluid and all that. I have about 100 records, that I have bought over the Internet, and that haven't been protected with anything or cleaned with anything.

I would wish for something new like Permostat, that could be bought in a country near denmark, and the would work that manuel cleaning way.. the hard way :-)

I gave up on the fancy liquids. I just use distilled water. And I don't clean them over and over again, just once, so then I can convert them onto CD-R.

I also cleaned most of my records once, back in the 80s. Back then I tried many different products before I got Permostat. All of them made everything worse. Some products introduced more noise on the records, and other products like the strange "glue" stuff, that was applied and needed to dry before rippin' it off as some kind of plastic film, which should come off with all dirt and dust. Well, some of the film came off, and some of it was still left on the record. Completely unusable!

But Permostat did the trick for me. Dust & dirt form my records came off, and is still completely antistatic treated and shiny.

But I guess I have to find my way into the DIY fluid stuff. I think most people uses desti water, Isopropanol (like 90%) and some dishwasher drops, right? Hmm.. what brush is best, and can I use normal car-polish paper for drying? Is it 100% save, and doesn't make very low groove noise worse?

No one can give you such guarantees. I suggest you buy Permostat by mail order so you can sleep well at night.
