Default Which Browser Do U Prefer?

Almost daily I read statistics on the worldwide use of browsers where they usually proclaim Internet Explorer as the winner.

Now, as far as I'm concerned Bill Gates can put his IE where the sun doesn't shine! Since more than a year I have not used that piece of junk.

I use 2 browsers: mainly Firefox (new version since yesterday) and Opera (been testing that one for a little time and I'm pretty satisfied).

Are there others that are recommendable? Netscape is not so safe IMO coz' it's always outdated by Firefox, on which it is build.

-AOL Explorer?
-MSN Explorer?
-Others?

BTW, I use Windows XP (unfortunately) so I can't test Safari and Linux browsers.

Firefox. Once you've tasted tabbed browsing, you can't go back. Also love the extensions like the BBCode one that makes putting italics and bold here a lot easier.

There's still a few sites which are IE-only though.

I need to try this FireFox I have been hearing about for years , how bad is the learning curve?

I tried Opera many years ago when it first showed up, but for me it was to problematic at first, specially the Email part. ..I'm sure they fixed it by now, but never checked.

It's a breeze. You simply right-click on a link and it opens the page under another tab, instead of opening a new window. I find it's ideal for forums like this, where I can go to the 'view all new posts' page, and then right-click on all the links that interest me. Built-in Google toolbar is a plus. I don't have many extensions, but there are tons out there.

You don't have to change e-mail apps to use Firefox. I still use Outhouse Express. :)

For now, I prefer Opera.. I love the tabbed browsing too, I find it much easier to surf in multiple windows and being able to do it without crowding up the taskbar. In my experience Opera is much better with tabbed browsing, you can move the tabs around and open them in the background, use key and mouse gestures etc.. Opera and Firefox are both good though. To me Opera has got a lot of features, perhaps too many. Firefox is simple and streamlined, but a bit lacking with it's special features (last time I checked, their pop up blocker was completely useless). Although I've been told there are many Firefox add-ons available to make up for what it lacks..

Another interesting one is Avant Browser, which is basically an IE shell. It makes IE run more like Opera or Firefox, with tabbed browsing and a good pop-up blocker. I used that one for a good while before I tried Opera and Firefox. It's a good middle ground..

Well, I've been using FireFox for a couple of weeks now, I love the 'Tabs' and the instant Bookmark search feature is a great improvement over IE, also the locked "password" vault is a nice touch, I don't see any browsing speed improvements and found a few glitches though, for instance on this board when on the reply window the emoticons are always added to the end, not at the spot where the Cursor is located, a bit annoying for me as I need to cut and paste, also when a vault entry is opened and the bookmark column activated the page overlaps, and printing to a PDF file a feature I use often didn't work and crashes forcing Firefox to close, minor glitches really, I'm sure will be taken care with the next upgrades, overall I give it a thumbs up.
