Love Shack

Sorry. This one just doesn't do it for me, and never did. While I can appreciate the light-hearted spirit and humour in some B-52s tracks, this is not one of them. It just rubs me the wrong way. I love "Planet Claire", and that's about as silly as you can get... but Love Shack makes me wanna bomb a Radio Shack...

Being included on the Corporate Radio Playlist hasn't helped matters, either.

I want to address two of your comments.

Yes I hate "Love Shack" and it's not an over-reaction. I believe you said you hated "You Sexy Thing" a song which I like. Would I call your opinion an over-reaction?

When I first heard the song I didn't like it any more than I do now.

"Funkytown" and "I Will Survive" (and "We Are Family and "Celebration" and so on) are overplayed but I don't hate those songs. I'll take them over "Love Shit Shack" any day.

Well, you're right about one thing, nrg: "You Sexy Thing" is one song that makes me gag (and not in the good way ). But if I actually said I hated it, then I'm guilty of over-reacting too.

Maybe I'm just interpreting the word too literally, but my point was that a reaction like "hate" should be reserved for something a little more significant than a dopey song: something like the new Republican stranglehold on the federal government, for example. :roll:

A song might suck, it might blow (and isn't it interesting how those two opposite words mean the same thing?!), it might hurt your ears, it might make you nauseated, it might offend you, etc. etc., but I still maintain that literal hate is an over-reaction.

To tell the truth, I really don't care much about "Love Shack" one way or the other.

Love Shack is one of those songs that gets mixed response every where I do shows... I might be working with a Bride about her wedding playlist... Some want the song... others say, "if you play Love Shack, I'll kill you" :lol: :lol: :lol:


The only time I like "Love Shack" is when it packs the floor at an event...
