Default any REGGAETON fans ?

Hi,
I am currently working in the carribeans and discovered this great latin beat known as reggaeton, it's a mix of reggae and hiphop. Its most popular track is very likely "Gasolina" from Yankee Daddy released in 2004 from Puerto Rico. I've heard a lot reggaeton played in Haiti, Dominican Republic and Costa Rica.
It is played at all in the US or Canada ?

Here in Miami it seems to be all the rage with the Latin Hip Hop crowd, although even P Diddy apparently is already involved with local talent and creating some controversy according to news reports, Radio Stations are already devoted to Reggeaton only and Billboards ads are popping up every where, local paper articles have begun to analyze this new musical 'movement' and dissect every detail, local Latin TV stations play lots of Videos (many locally produced) with sexy girls 'grinding' to the beat in skimpy outfits prompting a local News stations to run an expose examining the question, why all this local 'nice' young girls want to appear on camera showing off like this to this beat? it's pretty big already, I was in the downtown area the other day and the Boom boxes and car systems are pumping Regeaton...so, stay tuned, according to some participants’ claims, this will be the new sound of Miami ....

Not a fan of this type of music particularly "Gasolina". It reminds me too much of rap.

There's a reggaeton version of Mario's hit "Let Me Love You" that I've heard also.

It's big here in Orlando, Florida. Clubs citywide have already picked up this genre of music. Some clubs have reggaeton night. It's on the urban radio stations. I remember first hearing of this music in the early 90's when I use to live in upper Manhattan, N.Y. but it never really took off. It remained underground until 2005. I'm surprised it blew up out of nowhere.Unfortunately, I don't like this type of music.

I also hope you guys who want this music to live a long life to not support P Diddy because all he cares about is the potential money he can make off of this music. You notice how he was hanging out with Daddy Yankee at the latin billboards, right. He's a businessman. Diddy was also trying to do the same thing with electronic dance music (trance, house, etc) by hanging out with such talent as DJ Tiesto during his live mix sets. People booed him off.

Reggaeton is catching up rapidly here in Montreal as well, it can be heard on some radio stations & several dance clubs. Better later than never, Gasolina has finally made it to the charts of a major radio station. We also have an important latino community that contribute to its unexpected success.

It's huge here in Los Angeles as well, you can't go anywhere in LA without hearing it passing by clubs and hearing it in peoples car stereos etc.. They even do it on the patio at a couple big house music clubs here... I think it has a sort of house like sound sometimes and this could be a good thing for those of us who are trying to get young people interested in house music..

I hate Reggaeton...

Another low-quality dance-type stuff...but hey, that`s my opinion.

It´s basically very similar to two styles that are popular here in Portugal, called "Kizomba" and "Kuduro", the difference being Reggaeton it`s "sung" (if we can call it singing..it seems more like shouting) in Spanish...and of course, Reggaeton it`s becoming a sucess over here...
