Oh my god, Nitro Deluxe brings back memories. When I first heard it, it seemed so subversive & weird at the time with its distorted Lolleatta Holloway sample & I remember thinking how exciting it was that dance music was constantly changing & evolving into something new. However, 17 years later house is still around & although I'm not a house hater, I do wish we could move on to the 'next thing' like we constantly did in the 80s. :(

Steely, most of the world moved on to "The Next Thing" about 10 yrs ago when Trance took over. Now apparently it's a battle between Electro and Filter Disco as trance fades. Anyway, I can't come up w/ a Top 10 list (y'all would hate it anyway b/c 2 mainstream), but my favorite house remixer of all time is easily Frankie Knuckles, with his mix of "Rock With You" by Michael Jackson being one of his most glorious maserpieces. Of his songs, I like "The Whistle Song" best, but I like his remixes far better than his own stuff. No one mentioned "Plastic Dreams" by Jaydee or "The Bomb" by The Bucketheads. I also like the jazzier selections such as "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" by Eric Kupper.

Actually "I Want You (she's so heavy)" was by The Groove Collective. Eric Kupper just did the remix. An edited mix is also available on Groove Collective's "We The People" CD (GRP, 1996)
