Default In an old-school house mood

I've been in a serious old-school house music mood lately.

Among others, I've been getting down to these:

J.M. Silk - Shadows Of Your Love (12") (1986)
Chanelle - One Man (One Man Mix) (1989)
Alexander O'neal - Fake (House Mix) (1989)
Full House - Communicate (Sprint Apella Mix) (1987)
Sybil - Let Yourself Go (1986)

Ten City - That's The Way love Is (Deep House Mix) (1989)
Krush - House Arrest (1988)
Turntable Orchestra - You're Gonna Miss me When I'm Gone (1988)
Frankie Knuckles & Satoshie Tomiie - Tears (Classic Vocal Mix) (1988)
Mr. Fingers - Can U feel it (1986)

A good mix of classic chicago house trax and remixes of R&B of the day. Anyone remember these??

I know Chanelle's "One Man" and Ten City.

I think I've heard "Fake" but I don't recall if it was the house mix or not.

the Fake (house mix) is available on the "Hearsay - all mixed up" 1989 LP but I can't remember who actually did the mix. Will have to check for this info and get back to ya :)

K-Bee, I just love these records.... I made a mini-disc for Jussik with Krush-House Arrest... :)

Ten City has always been a favorite of mine...

Oh my, weren't the house tunes just better back then? At least they sounded fresh and innovative. :D

The Turntable Orchestra is one of my all time faves :D Nice phone conversation in it!

Are you familiar with It's Over Now by Ultra Nate (1989)? I used to adore this track. To me, one of her very best. Just like I'm a Lover is a masterpiece for Kym Mazelle, don't you think? :D

The Fake remix was out on European 12" too besides the remix lp. So there were two 12" out. I think the remix might well have been by mr. Liebrand, but not sure.

Sami,
that's the phone conversation in spanish you think about right?. I never understood a single word of it  but I reckon it probably rather saucy

Ultra Naté's "it's over now" I have on her 1989 debut album, but I haven't listened to it in a long time. Time to dig it out again, I guess.

Efunk,
I totally agree about Ten City but the strange thing is (to me at least) that the three sets following their "Foundation" set never really made much impact on the charts even though they all seemed more well rounded than their 1989 debut.

Com King,
If you like Cece's "Someday" (and who doesn't ) check out his "Join Hands" too. Arguebly the best thing he ever did, I think it's fro 1991.

Oh Beat Dis :D That was a huge thing BITD! I remember they predicted huge succes for the young Tim Simenon (wasn't that his name?).Whatever happened to him after few records :o Maybe "the names have been changed to protect the innocent!" :P :P :P

I used to like their other songs too, like Don't make me wait. While digging, do you still like The Beatmasters, Yazz, Coldcut... I'm picking up some 90's retrovibes here... The Coldcuts Doctorin' the House had truly hysterious samples, don't you think! :P

I recently picked up Project Club/Amnesia 12" and saw the familiar name of Paul Oakenfold in the credits. Funny somehow, as I remember hearing the track was quite big in the Ibiza back then (1989 or so). Wasn't the sound even called balearic beat or so? So what's new... :o

Tim Simenon went on to remix a few hundred records. Produce several major artist incl. Depeche Mode.

I don't know about the '89 remix of "Fake" but I have an '88 remix which is done by Keith Cohen and Steve Beltran and is on the "Hearsay-All mixed up" album.
