I would like to have some information about the Ministry Of Sound. What is it?

Ministry of Sound, as far as I can tell, in the real world may be a magazine. Their website offers news and the opportunity to listen to a a wide variety of dance music, with a radio station (scheduled shows).

They also have a download service for XX amount of lbs a month you are entitled to XX amount of tracks.

As far as I know they are available in WMA format only, so beware all you WMA (and all things Bill Gates) haters.

Hope this helps and if I wrong about what MOS is, other than a a website, I would like to know.

Much as I hate everything that MOS stood / stands for in recent years.... it was once an important club in London.
When it opened it was the only club apart from Trade that had an all night licence. It also had the best sound system in London (although I never heard any UK DJs use to its' full extent). It didn't have an alchohol license but it did have some great nights. Larry Levan sending us round the twist with S.O.B. the Pressure for 40 minutes and playing classics on a big,big system was a JOY! Francois K. playing Cool Jack "Just Come" and sending it all the way round the room! As shite as it became there were many great nights and many great US DJs that we hadn't heard before in the early days,especially on a thursday.

I have seen the Ministry of Sound compilations on their web site so it's possible

That is why I made my question, because I saw this CD compilation called The Annual 2004 so I was curious. I thought it was an event of Electronic music or something of that kind.

I've checked this year's Annual and I kind of recommend it. I found really interesting listening to covers of :

For what I know, MOS is the club, circulating club events, djs, records and compilations and videos of their events, London, Ibiza and anywhere. I've always thought they are a bit too trance orientated to my taste. And trance is a music genre I have never liked in general. The MOS is an istitution and a trademark of an era, I'd say. Who was it here, that wrote that they hold the rights of Salsoul label in the UK?

I agree with Ivana. It was the first time a lot of us were able to see great American DJs playing on a really good system. Many happy memories of its first two years, including Larry Levan (I've still got the flyer!), C&C, Kenny Carpenter, Terry Hunter etc.

The other things you've mentioned here are indeed all connected with the MoS. There was a magazine (Ministry) which closed early last year, and the labels are theirs also. They have an internet radio station, too.

I remember reading that the M.O.S.club uses sound equipment from the Paradise Garage in N.Y.; I don't know how seeing as Paradise closed down years before MOS opened!( :-? )
Its a big corporate multi-national business enterprise nowadays apparently; that's probably why it's so crappy now!

That's a pile of crap and, to be fair to MoS, they've never claimed that that was the case, either (though I have seen that story repeated often, so it's easy to gain credence). The guy who started MoS, Justin Berkmann, was heavily influenced the PG and by Area, and he certainly had those in mind when it was built, but it wasn't the PG system and I'm pretty sure that Richard Long had nothing to do with it. The only Richard Long system in Europe that I know of is the Dorian Gray in Germany.

Is that Dorian Gray club still in existense?

The Dorian Gray in Frankfurt Airport doesn't exist anymore, but the owners, Schüler & Presinger, reopened it in Berlin. It has a Bose sound system.
