| Since the sound quality of 12" singles was so much improved over a 7" or even as an album cut, I was wondering if they were ever used for not so discotunes. Four such tunes from the early 70s that IMO would have made GREAT 12" (remastered at the higher sound level and with TOTAL wide grooves taking the entire side) are Light My Fire - Doors Knights in White SAtin - Moody Blues American Pie - Don McClaine Stairway To Heaven - Led Zeppelin Comments? |

| I have a heavy metal 12" which is: AC/DC - Cold Hearted Man 1980 I guess this was Bon Scott's last song before he tragically died in early 1980. Believe it or not this was the first 12" I've bought and it's the only heavy metal 12" single I've ever seen or heard of. |

| In the 80’s, during New wave’s popularity, lots of “rock” was released on 12”, many of them are very valuable to collectors now. |

Don't I know it. I've amssed about ten bins worth of dance rock 12" singles over the years and still keep them in heavy rotation. Great stuff like: Fad Gadget Joy Division Pet Shop Boys Blondie Smiths Cure Ministry Blancmange Pete Shelley Vicious Pink Visage Killing Joke Psychedelic Furs As for straight rock, FunkyDude mentioned one of many. Atlantic put out quite a few AOR tracks on promo 12" such as AC/DC, Twisted Sister, John Parr, Quick Silver Messenger, Foreigner, Robert Plant and others that I have, but can't recall now.

Exactly. The artwork and variations on the album art were great. Take a look at all those Smiths covers as well as The Nails.

| I would've liked to see this for a 12" single: Steely Dan Side A: Deacon Blues Side B: Aja Both songs came off their wonderful 1977 album "Aja", and both clock in at over 7 minutes long. That would've made for a good 12" release. |

Hey Bernie! Seems like you were wearing black clothes, white makeup and spiky hair back in 1986... Can Cocteau Twins "Victorialand" be counted as a 12"? The vinyl version was 45 RPM, at least in my country. |

| Mix-- Some GREAT songs there! "It's My Life," "I Wanna Be a Cowboy" and "Wild Wild West" are some of my favorite songs from the '80s! Are the 12-inch versions of these supposed to be hard to find? I didn't seem to have much trouble locating them.

| Mix, Some nice songs on that tape. Sounds like stuff I used to compile. Still pull out the 12" of "It's My Life" and Bryan Ferry's "Don't Stop the Dance" and crank them up! Jeff, In years past those titles were easy to come by. Today though, I think they would be more difficult to find. If you like Talk Talk then check out their 1988 album, "Spirit of Eden." Hauntingly beautiful.

Bernie-- When reading this comment, I wondered, "what does he mean, 'in years past' vs. 'today'"? It took me a moment to realize that these songs are nearly 20 YEARS OLD! Gawd, do I feel OLD!
