Default Pink Floyd The Wall Movie Help?

Hey everyone, saw this section of the board so id figure what the hell i'll give it a try here and see if theres any other Floyd fans around on here and ask this question I been wanting to find the answer for for years. Is there anywhere on a bootlegg video tape maybe floating around the compleate undedited directors cut of "The Wall" movie?? I been wanting to see the original film which is more than likley sitting in a cutting room floor somewhere with the way it was intended to be seen. All the parts reedited for the bizzare or gory bloody content etc. At the end of the film you see some of the cut scenes flash really fast durring "The Trial". I know on the DVD a very shitty recovering of "Hey You" scene was recovered in black and white and very filmy which I saw...was wondering if anyone knows of a bootlegg or if they intend to release a directors cut someday. I remember when they reissued the movie a few years back they packaged the box with a false statement saying "Unreleased Footage" and there was none!! I was very disapointed and waisted 20 bucks. Any Floyd fans out there know any info I dont or wanna see The Wall as originaly intended?

I'm also a Pink Floyd fan, but I haven't heard about a "director's cut" version of "The Wall". If such a version is ever released, I wouldn't mind seeing it. It's one movie that I really like.

This is just something thats bugged me for years and years. You know what im talkin bout though where you see some of the deleated scenes flash almost instantly at the end there in "The Trial" right? If you use the slow motion button you can really catch quite a few of them. One of them was from the edited out "Hey You" section which as I mentioned did surface as an extra thing on the DVD but its in horrable B&W filmy thingie with the soundtrack restored. I just wish they would actualy release all the footage that was cut out and put out a directors cut. I do wonder if there could be a bootlegg out there though? If you ever saw the original movie trailor for The Wall, it also in it has some of those cut out scenes.

Interesting... I remember "Hey you" was the only album song which was out of the movie when I saw it in theaters. I didn't complain because the movie had one (or two?) extra songs.
It seemed strange to me that a movie so popular has no known stories about its making. All I found was that Alan Parker and Roger Waters had some fights about the movie, but no recollection of what actually happened. Maybe it's connected to that possibly missing scene.
Another thing: a couple of years ago there was a CD version of the short Pink Floyd's "The Wall" tour, the one in which they build the wall as the concert went on... you know the story. Wasn't it better to put it out on DVD? Could it be there's a sound recording of that and not documentary footage?
Just wondering...

I dont understand about what your saying about the concert video or CD? In the movie video there was also another song left out which was "The Show Must Go On". I wonder if thats also some missing scenes. I know also that various parts of the film were replaced with different camera shots, etc to edit some of the real gory or out there type parts. This had to be done from what I had heard so the film could get release as an R rated movie. Now if The Wall had come out in the era as of the past 10 yrs we may have got to see most of the original way The Wall was ment to be seen cause they coulda gave it an NC-17 rating. But I did hear that the "Hey You" scene was cut cause it made the movie drag is what Roger Waters had said. And I actually went and edited the shitty quality scene they tried to restore on the DVD into the film where it belonged to get an idea to find out what he ment by making it drag and he was right...it did kinda put an intermission in the film and did slow down the pace in a way.

Jimmy, my CD comment really has no relationship with the movie, I was just asking... I refer to the live CD with the black cover with the masks... Just wondering why they didn't put out a DVD, because everybody said the best thing of the "Wall" concerts were the stage concept, in which a real wall was built between the band and the audience as the concert went on, hiding them from the audience and blowing it in pieces at the end. From some photos it seems it was amazing, but few people saw it.
About "The Wall" movie, maybe Alan Parker will tell what happened someday. Maybe checking a Floyd biography...

When Waters did The Wall live in Berlin in 90 they had a simmaler thing which I own on video. He had The Wall there but it didnt really get transpired till "One Of My Turns" came up. Then Waters sat behind the wall and no one could see him in the audience. Was pretty cool but it would be nice to see an original concert from back in the time.

Hi Mr Jimmy,

as much as I know, these flashes you saw on THE TRIAL were meant to be exactly where they are on the film. I read that ALAN PARKER and ROGER WATERS fought like a cat and a dog during the making of THE WALL, and I believe ALAN PARKER did some changes to please WATERS and the movie producers, but I think the version of the movie released in theaters in 1983 is the definitive one.

Peace,

Default pink floyd

Hi Jimmy,
Nice to read about fans of Pink Floyd too, I am too tired of seeing DONNA SUMMER and stuff.
I recently bought a cd of The Wall. It is a full movie and includes all the songs like dirty women.which may be rated 18. It had all the war seens. I dont know that it is a directors cut or not but here in pakistan we mostly get the pirated stuff. Though its print and sound are v.good.

This is an old post I see is still round the top of the list lol...anyhow one of the flashes at the end of "The Trial" in the film that didnt appear was actualy from the cut "Hey You" scene which surfaced in crappy B&W footage on the DVD (think I mentioned it in the original post), but it would be cool to see how the film was originaly intended to be seen with no cuts and replacements. Just wish it would surface someday.

I just found the other day a 12" of 'Another Brick in the wall' (part II) it says Special Version of the single, it is 3:11 long with 'Run like hell ' on the flip, any one knows if this one is different from the LP?.

It's just the single version on a 12". Has that 4 bar intro not on the LP then fades out durring David Gilmore's solo. However as a colectors item id say thats pretty rare.
