| I just purchased the Cd single " Touch me like that" by Dannii Minogue. It has 13 mixes on it. Is that some kind of record for the most tracks on a CD single? |

| I once saw a promo CD that had some absurd number of mixes (I can't remember exactly, think it was 16 or 18) of "Finally" by Cece Peniston. They were all radio edits, most under 4 minutes. That wasn't commercially released though, so I don't know if it counts. |

| im sure in this country it wouldnt be more than 6 on a dance single, im sure when 6 became the norm they tried to stop it, well not stop it but too many tracks would be considered an album therefore not counting as single sales and would affect it charting |

| Bobby O "Excited" - 11 mixes are on it (the last one is a radio edit).

| They've changed the rules more than once, haven't they? I know it used to be a maximum of 40 minutes, because The Orb put out a single in protest (Blue Room) that consisted of *one* track with a running time of 39:58. Later it appears to have been chopped down to 20 minutes, and then whittled down again to 15... which effectively killed the CD single IMHO. Sure, some CD singles were longer than the albums that spawned them, but the main market for them was danceable music where you're usually getting six versions of the same song and maybe a b-side... hardly an incentive to choose it over the album. |

| There has been a trend around Australia to release CD singles with only two basic tracks. Usually just the radio version and a extra track. I hate these and will only buy a CD single with extra remixes on them. |

More recently, this trend has grown to include back-catalog items. Now, there's a big trend toward music stores closing, and the few remaining ones selling mostly DVDs, video games, and kitschy music-themed toys. I guess if you want more than the chart hits at the big box stores, it's the iTunes store or P2P networks now. |

The most tracks I know to have on a CD single is 12 on Blaze's "Most Precious Love" followed by "E Samba" by Junior Jack with 11 tracks. Both were released by the British label Defected and were editions intended for DJs because they probably contain way too many mixes to be eligible for a UK chart entry. So there were also regular CD singles of these available with less versions on them.

| I saw that Dannii CD whilst in Melbourne recently. I had already bought it back in the UK, so didn't get it. But to be honest, I was put off by the sheer amount of mixes! I just could not be ars*d listening to over an hour of the one song (and some of the mixes probably sound nought like the original anyway?). I loved it back in the day when a 12" would sport a 'long version', keeping the essence of the song you'd heard on the radio, just giving you that bit more... but then, I'm old and reminiscence and yearning for 'days gone by' is just a symptom! |

| A few years ago, I bought the new cd single of Taylor Dayne's How Many. The song title is kinda appropriate. It was a double cd release and how many mixes were there? There are 20! I don't think I've ever listened to all of them. I miss that too and because everyone had the one mix (maybe two) to play, it helped create classic hits. You fit the song where it would suitably fit instead of the song being revised in order for it to fit to your style.
