I just thought of another track I really liked (from '97 I think)
'Heaven' by Sarah Washington.

Did anybody mention "Dream Weaver" by Erin Hamilton? I put my DVD of "Trick" on the other day and remembered how much I loved this song.

BTW, I didn't know Erin is Carol Burnett's daughter. Now I remember hearing about Carol going through a family tragedy. I hope this isn't the young woman that passed away. Anyone, do I have my stories confused?

Back to topic: The club mix of "Smooth" by Santana works for me. Instrumental club mix is nice, too.

Nicky,

Carrie Hamilton was the Burnett daughter who died. She was on the TV show "Fame" and co-wrote a Broadway bound musical with her mother titled "Hollywood Arms" (I think) that Linda Lavin is starring in and Harold Prince directed. It's loosely based on Burnett's childhood growing up in Hollywood with alcoholic parents and a loving grandma.

Erin is still with us and performed this year at the LA Gay Day Parade.

You know, after I asked the question I realized it couldn't be Erin. She just released "I Got The Music In Me" late this summer.

I saw this post before but I really couldnt come up with 10 dance songs that I both liked and could name...I am sure there are more than what follows but for the life of me I really have little desire for anything released in the last 15 years...I think I was mostly into ballads by Celine, Mariah and Toni Braxton....However, I did like her dance version of "Un-Break Heart;" Madonna's "Vogue;"
"I'm Every Woman," Whitney and BELIEVE, by Cher...(Gawd, put me in a time capsule and send me back 25 years, please....)

Ok, the 90's...

Anyone here is missing the nineties? Oh my, after the 70's thematic parties, the 80's thematic parties (all the thirtysomethings are missing their "teen" days), now the 90's! That's life...

Some picks of the 90's just for you:

DJ SHADOW - ENDTRODUCING (the entire album is great. Groovy, moody music)
PROPELLERHEADS - TAKE CALIFORNIA
CHEMICAL BROTHERS - BLOCK ROCKIN' BEATS
THE CRYSTAL METHOD - BUSY CHILD
PORTISHEAD - ROADS (beautiful, beautiful song!)
BECK - BEERCAN
GURU - NO TIME TO PLAY
TLC - CREEP, UNPRETTY, WATERFALLS
BLACKSTREET - NO DIGGITY, FIX
TONY TONI TONÉ - IF I HAD NO LOOT, LEAVIN', TELL ME MAMA
KEITH SWEAT - TWISTED
WHITNEY HOUSTON - STEP BY STEP (original version)
EVERYTHING BUT THE GIRL - WRONG (remix)
FOR REAL - LIKE I DO (original version)
AL GREEN - LOVE IS A BEAUTIFUL THING
LAURYN HILL - THAT THING, X FACTOR
MARY J. BLIGE - BE WITH YOU, ROUND AND ROUND, LOVE IS ALL WE NEED, EVERYTHING
JANET JACKSON - BECAUSE OF LOVE, THAT'S THE WAY LOVE GOES, WHOOPS NOW, TOGETHER AGAIN
ANN NESBY - IN THE SPIRIT, THIS WEEKEND, HOLD ON
ADRIANA EVANS - LOOKING FOR YOUR LOVE

Forgot a few ones, but that's ok.

Peace,

zeca azevedo, a 20th century boy

Extremis by Hal featuring Gillian Anderson, 1997.
Hey !!! Gillian Anderson is just Scully from X-files and I don't believe in flying saucers not at all!!! (but I made a flying saucer trip listening to Cocomotion 1977 and Come To My Heart Sweet Baby 1978)

With so many gay people coming to this website, including myself, and we forgot the enormous contribution of these largely under-mentioned queer artists: Erasure, k d Lang, Byron Styngily, Joi Cardwell, etc. How about the remixers, who came to be pivotal in any cd or 12" single in the nineties: Todd Terry, Junior Vasquez, David Morales, Thunderpuss, Hex Hector, etc.
Ah, and one song I couldn't pass to mention: "Two to Tango", by Vanessa Daou. Whatever happened to that MTV show "The Grind".
Have a Disco Life.
