Default Registered Member Posts Appearing As Guest... PLEASE READ!!!

A few of the regular registered members are having difficulty staying logged-in. When they go to post a new topic or reply they later find out they posted as a "guest" and not under their username.

This should not be an issue if you check off the option that says: "Log me in automatically each visit" when you first log-in at http://www.discomusic.com/forums/login.php See screen shot below:

As long as you don't delete your cookies in your browser, you'll never have to log-in again. Perhaps some of the members having problems are deleting their cookies? Why anyone would do this is beyond me, but make sure you are not deleting them. Those cookies are what store your session info and keep you logged in. If you are sure that you aren't deleting cookies then perhaps you have a program that is doing it automatically? If so, disable it.

Once you are logged in anytime you go to post your form should look like the next screen shot:

If you are not logged in (or not registred) then your form will have a blank username field at the very top of the form like the screen shot below. If you post a message on this form your post will go under "guest."

Some additional info from the forum developer:

•The cookie features are working for me but not for some of my members:
The members most likely have the cookie security settings set to disallow cookies. Tell them to change them to allow cookies completely or just from your site. IE6 has improved features for this and your members might have messed with the settings.

Have to bump this one up as there are still some people having problems with this. Please read the above post and look at the screenshots I took. The solution is SIMPLE:
STOP DELETING YOUR COOKIES.

If you're a regular cookie-cleaner like me and on a PC, download IE Privacy Keeper, it's free:

http://www.unhsolutions.net/IEPK/index.shtml

Just click 'Keep Selected Cookies' in its IE menu, then check the sites you regularly log into - they'll be left alone when you have your next evacuation of the 'brown stuff'.
