Default What To Do If You Keep Getting An: Invalid Page Request

In rare cases, you may get the "Invalid Page Request" message if the site does not receive the correct "referrer information" from your browser or if you are currently logged-in, but accidently try to log-in a second time.

Unfortunately, a few software firewalls happen to block this "referer information" from being transmitted. If you are using such firewalls then you will need to configure it to allow the referrer information to be passed through. If you do not know how to configure the firewall, consult the documentation or support website for your firewall.

Among the most common such firewalls are "Norton Personal Firewall" (NPF) and "Norton Internet Security" (NIS). For convenience, see the information on the Norton site or read on for the directions below.

======= Directions for Norton ========

Directions from the Norton website:
Passing referrer information to specific Web pages in Norton Internet Security™ and Norton Personal Firewall™ 2003 and 2004

Situation:
You want Norton Internet Security or Norton Personal Firewall to pass referrer information to a specific Web page. This document applies to Norton Internet Security or Norton Personal Firewall versions 2003 and 2004 . See the Before you begin section below if you have versions 2000, 2001 or 2002.

Solution:

Before you begin: This document is intended for use with Norton Internet Security, Norton Internet Security Professional, and Norton Personal Firewall 2003 and 2004. For information on how to pass referrer information in previous versions of Norton Internet Security or Norton Personal Firewall, read the document Passing referrer information to specific Web pages in Norton Internet Security™ and Norton Personal Firewall™ 2002 and earlier.

Some Web pages (DiscoMusic.com) require referrer information before allowing you to view their page. If you want to allow referrer information to pass to a particular Web page, you must create a rule for it.

To create a rule
Open Norton Internet Security or Norton Personal Firewall.
Do one of the following.
In Norton Internet Security/Norton Personal Firewall 2003, click Options > Internet Security or Personal Firewall (This step is not always needed), and then click the Web Content tab.
In Norton Internet Security/Norton Personal Firewall 2004, double-click Privacy Control, and then click Advanced.

Click Add Site. A new site/domain box appears.
Enter the name of the site that you want to receive the referrer information and click OK. In this example, it will be www.discomusic.com. The site name appears in the left frame of the Options window.
Click the name of the new site.
Click the Global Settings tab.
In the "Information about visited sites" section, clear "Use default settings."
Click Permit.
Click OK to close the Options window.

Technical Information:
How referrer information works
When you click a Web page, your browser notes the current page that you are on and sends that information to the server of the new Web page. This way, the server for the new Web page knows the last Web page that you viewed.

For example, if you are on www.symantec.com and click www.microsoft.com, the browser sends www.microsoft.com the information that you are currently viewing www.symantec.com. If you block referrer information, the server of the page you are requesting to see does not know what page you saw last. By default, Norton Internet Security and Norton Personal Firewall block this information. Some Web sites require this information before they allow you to see their pages.
