Default Trouble With New Site Layout (the Vault!!!)

I've been trying to find records in the vault, but have been confronted with what I find to be a very unhelpful new layout. First, unless something's wrong with my computer, I found it very hard to find the vault in the first place. I tried various wrong paths, ending up doing a general site search, with as a result, each & every post the record involved (Gloria Gaynor - Glorious) was mentioned in, appearing. So I ended up findind in very small print, below all the new entries, what seemed to be the door to the vault.
So I tried the search again, but ended up with Google results within the vault, with each & every artist having made a cover of a Gloria Gaynor track, in a "glorious" glitter suit, for instance. I can see how it can be interesting in some instances to find both a given artist and those having covered his/her tracks, but is there a way to limit a search to the artist wanted, without having to go through each entry where gloria has been compared to, or even just mentioned??

Also, (and this could be my computer), entries come up with all text the same size, but different font for the title, and text. Although you can still read it, I found earlier bold, bigger, underlind titles with smaller text below much friendlier to the eye, and easier to find your way through categories.

Is it just me, (in which case I'll just shut up and suffer in silence), or have others found certain aspects of the new layout disturbing & counter-productive?? Or am I just facing glitches being dealt with...

Chris, it's on the homepage, on top at the right. You click "Disco records" and then you come @

Vinyl Disco Record A-Z Database | Disco Music.com

And then at the top left you enter the name of the artist and the title.

OK? If not, please tell us what is not working properly or which part is still hard to find. Bernie, is revamping the main site and as it is a work in progress, there can be bugs or features that are not fully functional.

People, don't hesitate to report 'em to us!

Thx

I too have problems with the Vault...the Find That Record Fast column where you do your search on the left is too wide and covers some of the info for the record you searched for....anyone else see this? That far left column stays on the page when you go to the record you searched for and covers about a third of the text!!!

Thanks guys for the input on the new layout. It's still not finished as I need to finish off on a navigation system on top. Tweaking the search is also on the agenda and I appreciate real world experience.

As for the left column blocking the main text: I've never seen that so it means that your browser window is not wide enough. Try setting your resolution to at least 1024 and all should be fine. Also use the Firefox or Safari browser instead of the old AOL browser. I'll keep working on it till it is right for the majority of users. Just give me time as I'm juggling many things.

Right!! Now I got it, Johaneke. I'm surprised no one else had trouble finding it, as "Disco Records" didn't come out as self-explanatory to me...

I just checked out the page, and I must say, at the risk of sounding like an old fart, that I found the older layout much more clear, organized, and legible. Well, that's just my take on it...

I've had various weird things happen too, mainly on the homepage. Parts not loading, ads taking too much room, etc. I usually just log out and back in, which seems to work, often.

Marky, which browser are you using (BTW, I'm always confused, do you say what browser or which browser??)? I use Safari at the moment and no problem at all. It's weird but like Bernie says, the browser can be the cause. When I look at my page on Myspace and I use Firefox 3, I also have similar problems , too wide and the lay out doesn't look right.

Oh you always have to ask the hard questions, don't you?

Well, is Microsoft Internet Explorer my browser?? Because that's what it says at the top of the screen!!

Yes, then that's your browser but...maybe Bernie has worked on this but...I've opened the stuff you all mentioned in Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox 3, Opera and Seamonkey and it all works perfect over here. Safari gives the best results, maybe because Bernie creates the site on a Mac.

Personally, I like the new lay-out very much and find it very user-friendly. But the customer is always king, so, do keep posting your views on it and give us a call when you discover a bug.

To be frank, I'm not sure. It could be from "Astérix chez les Belges"! No, really!!

You'd usually say "what", because it's an open, general question, and expects a non-pre-defined answer. "Which" would apply if the expected answer was confined to a given list, within which the answer would mandatorily be picked . For instance, "of Opera, Firefox, or I.E., which browser do you use?"
But of course, people nowadays tend to use either word indiscriminately in both situations.

Yep, that's basically all we, da Belgians (or "de Belgskes") do: eat, drink, party and chase women! And do not forget that Julius Caesar himself said that the Belgians were the bravest of all. Between all the festivities we managed to fight and hold back the Romans for a long time!

And now we go back to the classics!

By the way, I still have most of the Dupuis -edited Astérix books I discovered upon arriving in France, complete with hot chocolate and eggnog spills!! A pleasure to read again, each time!!

I've got 1024x768 too.
Are you sure you haven't changed some setting Bernie? I haven't had this kind of problem with a site for several years.

I tried to replicate Marky's problem with the left hand menu covering the center content and couldn't. However, while at work on a Windows machine I bumped the text size up and bam, it happened! Apparently if you increase the text size too much the menu expands. Until I can find the cause and correct it, you may want to reduce the text size and see if that does it. Also should have the nav system in place within a week or so. Sorry about the hassles, but I appreciate everyone letting me know about quirks in the site design.
