Default Server/Forum Maintenance...

Been busy this past week behind the scenes working on the server and forum as well as updating all the Record Vault entries that keep piling up.

The forum should be noticeably quicker and I will continue to work on it through the weekend as time permits. There may be short outages or weird behavior, but all should be fine when it's complete. If anyone notices any broken links or anything of concern then please leave a comment here. Thanks!

Bernie, I see that now, unless one logs in first you can't tell if there was any new postings to a particular thread, nor can you tell who was the poster, you can't jump to the 'last post' by using the -> arrow either at the end of the thread 'title'.

Is this the way is going to be from now on ?

That's correct Mix. This upgrade saves on server resources since the database is not always accessed. Besides forum members are usually logged in anyway. There's never any reason to log-out so it shouldn't affect members of the forums.

Makes sense, I'll use the 'remember me' box next to the login window.

Here is a navigation enhancement suggestion used on other forums (using the same software) I find useful.

Adding the forums index links to the bottom of a thread page along with the 'previous' and 'next' thread (already available here)

This way, one doesn't have to scroll all the way to the top again to find the sub-forum index/Master index when looking for a fresh thread other than 'previous' or 'next' ones.

Just an observation, if to much trouble, no biggie
