Default What's The Time Zone, Dude???

I'm trying to figure out which are the new posts...since I don't always get the red marks on the left and I see times for posts that don't make any sense. Wasn't everything on East Coast time before????

Yesterday, Thursday, Oct. 31-- when it was around 6:00PM in California there were posts for Friday, Nov. 1 in the early morning...so are the times from the time zone of the post??? (Like European time, dude???)

I be confused.

If you're logged in, the posts should appear in whatever time zone you've got set in your profile. I'm in EST, which is GMT -5... so if memory serves me correctly, Marky and the rest of the California crew should be GMT -8.

Speaking of California, I wish I was there now... we got our first snowfall today...

I still don't get it. Where did I set a time zone in my profile? It says I'm in LA--does that mean the times are Pacific Coast time??

It's now 11:43AM here. It says I typed that previous post at 19:01--when I'm logged in...a different time when I'm not logged on...oh never mind, I give up.

I'm going on vacation, I think.

Go into your profile, and near the bottom of all the options, you'll see Time zone. This is a drag-down menu with all the time zones on it. By default it is set to GMT. Select GMT -8 (note scroll up for this) and save your changes. You should now see all your posts in your local time.

I just hope things don't get messed up when we go back on Daylight Savings Time :)

OK, thanks Graham. I did as you told me. We'll see if it stays that way.

I just read Graham's post about the time zone function in our profiles, so this is just a test post to see if I changed mine successfully.

How bizarre! I too changed my profile per Graham's recommendation, but the time ended up 4 hours ahead (it's 6 pm, but my post said 10 pm). So, I'm now trying GMT + 4. Let's see if it works.

Duh! After rereading, I see that it's time for me to sign off. I'm see plusses instead of minuses. Of course, Graham wrote "- 8".
