| Because of the complete lack of any disco clubs around here, Ive been thinking about starting a disco club. The club would constist of meeting about twice a month, or perhaps every weekend, in my house, to listen to disco records in my living room and practicing dancing moves. We would also collect money to rent a roller skating rink about once a year for private use, with only rare Disco music playing. This I guess, would be roller disco. We would also rent a dance club one a year for private use also. It would be one of these clubs around here that usually plays rap and crap. The public would be allowed to come, but dressing would be enforced and these non-members would have to pay to get in. But hot chicks in their 20s can come in for free. (hey, as the founder of the club I can do anything, right) We would almost be a like a religious cult of Discoers in a way:razz: We would take an offering at the meetings to save up for our big nights out. this idea is cool and I would like to do it, but in realitly, there are some problems that will probably prevent this from happening. 1. Im not sure if there are really enough disco oriented people who would want to do this. How old are most people who like disco? Baby boomers? Those guys are probably too old now. 2. Having strangers in my living room spilling alcohol on my carpet and stealing from me when I trun around is a risk I dont want to take 3. The wife wouldnt like the croud here one bit! 4. Advertising the club would take money 5. some people would come wanting to hear country and other stuff. I would have to be the dictator and force them to listen to only disco at the club. some people use the word "disco" in quite a broad sence. 6. some old hag in her 60s would want to sue for letting hot chicks in on club night for free but she has to pay 7. the club may not want to rent out their place in the first place. so whats your opinion? a good idea or a bad one? can you think of more bad reasons? Can you think of positive reasons? |

| If you keep it private, you can let one in or ban anyone. Lock up the rest of the house. Keep the records safe!! BYOB to eliminate third party liability in case someone gets drunk and then has an accident. |

| Using your home is asking for trouble as you realize. Having local get-togethers of disco fans might work out. Keeping it totally private will be harder if you advertise on the web or in your local newspaper. If you can get enough people together via e-mails to like-minded friends then you'll have less worries. Anybody can rent a little party place in a restaurant or a VFW hall or whatever without it being a big deal. |

| I agree use a space away from home... You will definitely feel more comfortable and safe. It also reduces liabilty as stated in the previous post(s).
