It's here!

The official form to submit your Top 25 Disco songs is now available. The results will be used as the basis for compiling the revised Top 500 Disco list later this year.

PLEASE NOTE

You must have 25 songs ready with the correct title and spelling in order to post. Please don't rush since this form will be up for the next few months. Once you submit your form it can not be changed. You can only vote ONCE!!! Submissions will be tracked.

Take your time and write your choices on a piece of paper first. Rank your songs from 1 through 25 with #1 being your most favourite. Once this is all done THEN fill ou the form and submit.

The form can be found at

http://www.discomusic.com/disco_500_form.html

Thanks for your participation!

Your Top 25 Songs are starting to come in already and it's looking great! I can tell this Top 500 is going to be way different from the last one.

Pretty sure many of you are busy with pen and paper coming up with yours. Don't hesitate to look at the existing Top 500 or browse this site's "Disco Vault A-Z for ideas and correct song titles.

A big thank you to those who have taken the time to spell check and proof read their entries. It's a BIG help.

The form to submit your Top 25 songs is at

http://www.discomusic.com/disco_500_form.html

Please tell all your friends to come over to DiscoMusic.com and vote.

Bernie--

I hate to be a pain, but I have a couple of questions that will help me make my choices, and maybe help other people too:

1) Is there a time frame for our choices; say, 1974-1984, for example? Or is every song from the dawn of time through July 2002 eligible?

2) Can we list entire LPs or individual songs only? Let's say I wanted to list The Ethel Merman Disco Album (hi, Graham!); is that acceptable, or would I have to choose only a single song from the LP like "There's No Business Like Show Business"?

Thanks for your help.

Valid points Jeff. The period would cover 1972-1986 so one could have Hi-NRG & funk tracks with their Disco.

No. I'm glad you brought this up. Individual songs only. Please do not list entire albums or album sides. If you really did like an entire album then you would have to list each song seperately.

In regards with the time frame being 1972-1986, would you accept anything from 1968-1971 as there are some great dance songs from those years and some sound very disco such as:
Curtis Mayfield - If There's Hell Below 1970
Archie Bell & The Drells - I Can't Stop Dancing 1968
Isaac Hayes - Theme From Shaft 1971
etc...

One further point needs clarifying, I think.

Are we voting for just our personal 25 favorites or the 25 most important/influential/landmark records?

Also, Bernie, I would presume from the way you answered Jeff's question one could NOT vote for Gloria Gaynor's LANDMARK segued "Honey Bee/Never Can Say Goodbye/Reach Out (I'll Be There)" track as one choice? Right?

I find this job nearly impossible. There are way too many to choose from.

I probably will procrastinate posting til the last damn day.

OR maybe I won't vote this time and just BITCH about the results.

Marky, What were you doing in the back of the class when I went over this? Anyhow here it is from the previous post,

"Rank your songs from 1 through 25 with #1 being your most favourite."

That's right. It would lead to a lot of problems since they are seperate songs despite being segued from one to the next. One person would vote for say "Never Can Say Goodbye" while another would vote for the whole thing and that's not going to help so one song per line please.

Very true--there are a LOT of great songs to consider between 1972 and 1986. But I believe Bernie has the right idea: Our lists need to be limited to a manageable 25, since some people wouldn't be able to restrain themselves from listing 250 songs. (I would have preferred a shorter time frame to choose from, but Bernie's making the rules.)

I'm sure I will too. Making the list then revising it 10 times takes time!

There's no way you WON'T vote, Marky. You will not be ignored, remember?! But you'll still bitch about the results. We all will.

OK, I don't mean to beat this topic to death, but what if someone lists songs from before 1972 or after 1986 (as Maarten did by starting with 1970; no offense Maarten, I'm just trying to be clear about the guidelines): Do those songs get thrown out?
