    Need info on The Brothers

The RCA act The Brothers released an LP titled Don't Stop Now in early 1976.

Does anyone have the track listings of songs? Was there a song titled "Don't Stop Now" and if so, was it a dance record?

The Billboard charts have some retailers listing "Don't Stop Now" and others listing "The Brothers Theme/Under My Skin/ Making Love."

I'm unsure if I should bundle all these together under the LP "Don't Stop Now" or list them separately.

Nicky, I think you know this group--AMG has nada--at least that I could find.

    SIDE A:
    1. BROTHERS THEME 5:59
    2. VOCE ABUSOU (VO-SAY AH-BU-SO) 5:34
    3. UNDER THE SKIN 6:05
    4. DIDN'T WANT TO HURT YOU LIKE THAT 4:42

    SIDE B:
    1. WERE YOU READY FOR THAT 5:13
    2. MAKE LOVE 4:31
    3. DON'T STOP NOW 5:33
    4. LAST CHANCE TO DANCE 5:19

"Don' Stop Now" received some play. I believe "Under The Skin" and "Brothers Theme" were much more popular. Not sure about your listing rules, whether you promote the album or the individual cuts. To be honest, all are danceable to a degree with "Under The Skin" being the funkiest and "Brothers Theme" showcasing that 'disco orchestra' feel. There were also promo 12"s from this album if that helps in your decision.

Thanks for the info, Nicky!!! Decisions, decisions. I'm guessing since the whole LP is danceable that this was a sorta "all cuts/entire LP" type thing...but they don't say that. Well, I'm gonna think about it.

    What's the correct title...

UNDER THE SKIN or UNDER MY SKIN?

I'm thinking it is the first...but Billboard charts it as the latter (as does Whitburn's book) every week it charts. (although Moulton's column this past week said "THE")

Also I did a google search and found a website where they listed it as "MY"...but Nicky wrote "The" in his reply to me..so I gotta trust the Nickster, right???

    Help!!

Also, in that same vein of getting things right..

is it Luis or Louis or Louie Ramirez who did "Salsa" --I've seen it all 3 ways; Whitburn's book says "Luis"--so I went with that...but I have my doubts...AMG has it all 3 ways--maybe there were 3 different guys????

Mixmachine do you have a photo of the 45???

I love this album, especially for the track "Make Love", which is an instrumental version of Jeanne Napoli's "Let's Make Love".

Are the promo 12"s different/extended versions? The LP was hard enough to track down.

Marky, let me know if you'd like to hear this album...

For what it's worth, the track is listed as "Under the Skin" on Disco Spectrum 3. Unlike many compilations, the Disco Spectrum folks tend to spell and title things correctly!

Love this album. It's waaay better than the one they did a year earlier called 'Disco Soul'. Other than their cover of 'Fire' and the track 'Are You Ready For This', the Disco Soul LP sounds more like Muzak.

'Don't Stop Now' is an LP miles ahead of that record. If the beat on The Brothers Theme reminds you of Turn The Beat Around, it should, because they were the backing band on the Warren Schatz productions on RCA/Sunburst records. They also played on tracks by Gordon Grody ('Livin With You', 'Exclusively Yours') and the New York Community Choir ('Express Yourself'). They even did an LP under a different name on Midsong - as The Inner City Symphony.

The three track listing you mention above is the promo 12" version, which had those three cuts. As far as I know, from reading around, the tracks were not remixed. Too bad. I don't think the Warren Schatz stuff started getting remixed until '77.

And a little trivia note, VOCE ABUSOU was also included on the Samba Soul LP that had 'Mambo #5' because Warren Schatz was connected to the US production of the record.

The timings on the promo 12" are different from the ones NickNack listed from the LP.

    Under The Skin 6:02
    Brothers Theme 7:28
    Make Love 5:49

I don't have a copy of the LP to do a side-by-side comparison, but it appears that Brothers Theme and Make Love are remixed or extended. Under the Skin may be remixed or they may have just corrected the running time on one of the pressings.

this 7" clocking at 6:39 is almost the same as the Lp @ 6:55

Here is the Brother's cover, this second copy with a bit of ring wear I got not to long ago, Let's see if I get the time to put it in the vault, I hate doing LPs, to much typing.

I love the "Voce Abousou" cut, it was done salsa style by the late Celia Cruz ( didn't I say this before? )
