THEO VANESS ON CD? WHEN?

I can't believe that Theo Vaness Lps are not released on Cd after all these years...Does anyone have any info? and Iam talking about some Real Stuff not bootleg crap.Is he still around?

Yep, Theo Van Es (that's his real name) is still living and performing in Holland as a solo-artist, sometimes as the leadsinger of coverbands and a few times a year with his old band The Shoes.

The tragedy of this guy is that at the moment his records were big worldwide and he was becoming a great Discostar in the States, he got homesick and wanted his normal life back. That's when he quit and retired.

No, Theo Vaness has released many recordings as well solo as with other bands but there only are 2 Disco-albums:

-"Back To Music" (1978-CNR)

In 1980 he also released a single "Guanto La Guesta" under the name S Band and on the EMI label.

Interesting stuff! Glad to know he's still around..

I don't actually have any of his albums so I wonder if the recordings were owned by and done for Prelude records or if Prelude licensed them from another record co. in Europe.. I suppose if they are owned by Prelude, then Unidisc would be the one to reissue them.. eventually..

I have this album, but at the bottom right corner there is a sticker that says "Special DJ Promo Copy". It is actually a 2-record set consisting of 2 white-label promo 12" of those songs that are on the album..........I'm not really crazy about any of the songs, though. Strange because I loved the first 2 albums.

Bernie: would you believe I own that album but have never played it? I found it in the bargain bin and bought it figuring if it was on Prelude it would probably be good disco and may be valuable at some point in the future, but sometimes when I buy several recordings at one time I put some of them away and forget about them altogether. 11/24/2009
