I have always wanted to like this LP! Even have the blue-vinyl promo, blah, blah, blah... But I just can't quite wrap my head around it. To me, it's aaalmooost "very good". Similar to 'Blackwell's "Boogie Down" LP, on Butterfly.
Oooh! How is that LP? I've never had a chance to hear it (outside of "Leatherman's Theme"), and I always get the feeling it's gonna be another "Beckett", or "Cindy & Roy". And though Arthur G. Wright does have a number of hits, to his credit... he's never held-up well, over two, full sides.

Stephen - I had the version on blue vinyl back when it was first released...and this past week I found a copy pressed on traditional black vinyl. Being the Tom Moulton/Salsoul fanatic that I am - I just had to buy it back. The original french album was called Space Music and featured 11 tracks. Just to give you an idea - Accidental lover is 4'21 and Oxygene is 3'20 on the original Lp which also features Bilitis,Love in space and Onyx. I believe it is the 2nd disco album I ever bought right after Conquest of the stars by Space Project. So it is special to me.And hearing the Sweethearts of Sigma sing "Accidental lover" is great. It is so sparse and unlike the stuff I was used to hearing at the time.
As far as the Wright Bros Lp is concerned... It is just OK. Except for Leatherman Theme - all tracks feature vocals either by Larry & Arthur Wright or Bonita Wilson. I've got love in my heart is my clear pick. Great bassline + horns & strings.
Side 2 is very laidback. It features three mid-tempo dance tracks. Love & affection is good.Nice funky groove. Only if you want to is a nice opener in a BT Express kind of way.
Overall - it's a little too generic for my taste.I wouldn't have been so eager to pick it up if it wasn't on Casablanca.
It'll go in the "glad I got it but I won't be playing it that often" pile.

The 1977 release was called Space Music (Delphine Records) in France and Germany (Musica Cosmica Espacial in Spain). Does anyone know if these short original versions were even dance-oriented ??
The one you're referring to is the 2 Lp set called Disco Spatial (Delphine 1978) which featured longer & disco-fied versions of all the McLane Explosion tracks but also some from Black Paul and By The Savers.

Ah okay, thanks for the explanation. :)
And from the "I haven't listened to this in ages and forgot how good it was" file:
