Little dictionary of Boney M's songs

Sunny:a cover of the Bobby Hebb sixties classic
    Ma Baker:about a Chicago gangster
Belfast:about the people of Northern Ireland
Rivers of Babylon:a cover of a reggae song from the sixties that was originally recorded by the Melodians

The Ma BAKER sticks in my craw since it is supposedly about
    Ma BARKER
(portrayed by Shelley Winters in "Bloody Mama").

You'd think if they were gonna write a song about her--they'd bother to learn how to spell her name, huh???

Yeah, but we are talking about Frank Farian, "the meanest cat of Germany". His carreer is based on thievery and betrayal. If Ma Barker was still alive, she probably would deal with him

    lets not forget

"Dancing In The Streets" (US Only, Sire 1979).....and not THAT Dancing In The Streets

"My Friend Jack" (1980) - Swingin John ate sugar lumps (presumably laced with LSD in the Original by Smoke, but with Farian, any cover was usually better appreciated with acid).

"Conseula Biaz" (1981) - proving they really did just want to be the black Abba, they even concocted their own "Fernando" ripoff tale of war

"Rasputin" (1978) - Russian bad cat. Drank the Poison - went to his head, but that wasn't enough - then he was shot until he was dead. Oh, those Russians.

Not forgetting Young, Free & Single! Their attempt at poppy hi-nrg (and quite good fun it is too!)
