I just picked this up this afternoon, and I'm about half-way through the first laid-back disc. I am rather enjoying it, especially that Tata Vega track "Get it Up For Love". I gotta find a 12" of that.

I know Boodi calls him "da meathead of Paris" or something nasty like that--but this would be a good party record, IMHO.

Oh, and I've got "Emmanuelle: Joys Of A Woman" on MoreMax. I feel so decadent. And I've just discovered Mike's Hard Lemonade tonight!

    Hey, I LIKE IT!! Uh-huh. Uh-huh.

    YEAH MARKY,
I know what you mean, I LOVE that first cd!
Its all there, the music i like!
It starts with dubbed out discosounds by Lil'Louis, Imagination (so good, so right) and Maze to perfectly blend with more (hiphop)funk breaks by Les Nubians (In a dj Spinna mix, my favorite dj! Check out his mixCD for STRANGE GAMES AND FUNKY THINGS! MARVELOUS!)
Also that NIKITA tune by Ralph Myers & jack Herron band is prime quality!
And then halfway the CD it explodes into a party with TATA VEGA's "GIVE IT UP FOR LOVE"! This song is super, I never heard it before, but now its on my list of most wanted 12"
I further like the afro Rythms of Jephté Guillaume; the fantastic Larry Levan mix of PEANUT BUTTER by Gwen Gutrie; Grace Jones Feel up: and to end it another great song by BLAZE (Their MY BEAT-song is in my list of all time favorites!)

I don't really like the second "uplifting" CD of "after the playboy mansion". I still think his previous MIX cd "a night at Playboy Mansion" was much much better! That's a real party mix from the beginning 'till the end! With a lot of fantastic Dimitri Remixes of older tunes such as: Down to love town (the originals), Shangri-la (la preguna), Found a cure (Ashford and simpson,...
Plus a lot of fantastic new tunes such as REACH INSIDE (Bah Samba, they just released a superb latin-house debut-CD), OUTRO LUGAR (Salome de Bahia, I saw this lady perform live once with Bob Sinclar! fantastic!), THE PLACE IS ROCKIN (pascal feat Mr. Day),... And ofcourse that CD featured the number-one-tune of them all: GIVE ME LOVE by Cerrone!

    party on!

    nonkel808,

I agree with everything you said. The first disc is terrific. The second sorta boring. At least, the first time through. Maybe it will grow on me.

BUT, the Tata Vega!!!! Loved that.

I knew the Imagination, Gwen Guthrie, Grace Jones, oh, and my fave Rinder & Lewis cut--"Lust"- before.

I think you can buy the discs separately--so I recommend the "laidback" disc #1.
