I adored Laura`s dance music - what a great talent she was, (RIP)... I think it was terrible that she did not have more commercial success... Shattered Glass was a perfect pop/HINRG track - I recently bought a GREATEST HITS CD.
Me again!
Ah, Laura Branigan...she was a big haired American lass in leather trousers and flowing blouses who had an ear for a gay dance tune, wasn't she?? "Self Control", "Gloria", "The Lucky One", "Shattered Glass" etc etc...what do you lot think about her? (and try to forget the dreadful "How Am I Supposed To Live Without You"!!!) :D

"Shattered Glass" was great, but not as good as the Ellie Warren original I think...I miss Laura! :(
Real shame about Laura... :cry:Originally Written by phrankie
I have two versions of the Ellie Warren track - the original 12" version and a 90s remix on a white label bootleg 12"
I also loved "Satellites" by Ellie Warren
Another gem - That always reminds me of a night in Blackpool where I.... OK - Thats another story. :lol:Originally Written by phrankie

Gloria in 3d, best remix ever. Well I think.
I like 'The Lucky one' & 'Satisfaction', especially the Hot tracks mix. She also did a good cover of Hazel Deans 'Whatever I do'.
I have the album from 1987 - "Touch" - some great tracks on it... especially the SAW produced tracks 8)Originally Written by Davicillo
I have a copy of Self Control performed by R.A.F which I'm assuming is the original version - with Ms Branigan covering it later the same year?
That's correct marmite...RAF did the original...I remember that in France they combined the sales of the two versions to give them just one chart position!!! How bizzare!!!
It came out in 2004 on her final posthumous release.

She was great, I saw her performing in a club once and the "O-WAY-O"s when she did "Self Control" brought the house down.
The next single from Infernal who recently did "From Paris To Berlin" is a version of "Self Control" and its not bad at all its pretty faithful to the original.
At the time I was living with a DJ ; so it was either in 2002 or 2003.
He was playing at home and sounded very camp ; but when he played it in a club sound-system. People were going "Huhh ????" then she tried to hit the final note ; Ouch !!
I've always been a LAURA BRANIGAN fan but honestly ; this was painful.
I have an mp3 of it ; so I just added it to my iPod ; I'll re-live the experience soon.
LOL

One year around 1992 or 93, she was presenting an award at the High Energy awards in New York, and when Vicki Shepard performed Never In A Million Years, Laura walked out.
The song must have had a special poignancy for her. It was pure coincidence that Vicki performed it when she was there.
Laura's version of 'Whatever I Do Wherever I Go' wasn't a patch on Hazell Dean's version either.
...ya gotta beat the street......
The only other good track was 'Satisfaction'.
