yet more sad news eugine record of the chi-lites then solo artist died in chicago yesterday no more details at present

Mr Record died of cancer after a long battle fighting it.

For me the Chi-Lites were a very underrated soul group. They could do it all, soul, funk, disco, blues, political...And all led by leader, singer & songwriter Eugene Record. They only had 5 Top 40 hits, but at least Oh Girl went #1. Still gives me chills hearing that voice sing Ohhhhh-oh Gir-irl! When the early 70's was giving us philly soul, Motown & funk, they were giving us raw Chicago r&b.
