    Hello:

Do you have any information on JOE THOMAS ??
The only song I know is (of course) PLATO'S RETREAT from 1977/79 or so. I can remember that that song played a lot on discos over here in Brazil at the time, although it did nothing on the radio (it was never released here).

It is one of my all time favourite disco songs.

Is there any info about him ? He probably must be one of the musicians behind the song since it is sang by girls. Did he produce the song?? Any albums?? How many ?? Any information is welcomed.
    Thanks

U have great taste Paulo as Platos Retreat is one of my all-time faves too.
Joe Thomas was a jazz flautist primarily & his disco output was just a small part of his repertoir. Unfortunately Joe was shot dead in 1979 putting an abrupt & tragic end to his career & life!

No, he went to Plato's Retreat and started getting frisky with this chick. Her husband got jealous, grabbed a gun and shot him.

Not really, but I thought it would make for some entertaining reading.

I remember that Make Your Move was ENORMOUSLY popular at THE BEST DISCO IN TOWN in London around '79. We all used to really STOMP our boots along to the drum beat during that percussion break ...

    Great music he made ...

    Hi gang
    Thank you for the feedback

I'll try to find those 2 albums on TK. If I am not wrong, TK songs were released on compilations here in Brazil through our domestic Toptape or Tapecar (both of which don't exist anymore).

Platos played in every disco at the time, but no one ever released the record here. I had it on an old cassete tape.

Today, there is a radio station on the TV cable network which has 3 interesting channels (among 15): 70' disco, 80's, and 90's house music. Plato's is a regular on the 70's channel. By the way, they played a lot of underground and (now) obscure 70's disco. The guy who makes the play-list really knows about it.

So we can get to listen to DISCO at any hour of the day, as the TV cabel is non-stop. They also show the name of the song, artist and sometimes the producer. DISCO could not be more present and real... and while some people still slash it, it is everywhere in the world's normal day.
