Well Heaven and Bangs were the biggies, but one of the places I really enjoyed musically was the Copa in Earls court, it was where the real record collectors and music freaks hung out, terrific back in the day.
Where did we all go every weekend to dance and listen to all the latest HINRG music ??
In Manchester, I went to ROCKIES and HIGH SOCIETY - they always played the best HINRG dance music. ROCKIES was lucky enough to have Manchester`s finest HINRG DJ - the late, great LES COCKELL. This guy was a genius behind the turntable and I was lucky enough to get to know him over the years as I was a regular customer at his little record shop in the gay village.
Many of the gay bars/pubs also pumped out all the latest HINRG hits - especially THE REMBRANDT & NEW YORK, NEW YORK.
Ahh... Those were the days....

Did you see many live PAs by HINRG artists ? In the Manchester venues I got to see artists such as Hazell Dean, Angie Gold, Marsha Raven, Man 2 Man, Rofo, and many others.Originally Written by straight acting
Unfortunately I never got to see Evelyn Thomas /Miquel Brown or Earlene Bentley
Yes I did , as well as spend time in the Studio with some of them. My favouirite was Evelyn Thomas she was lovely and in fact lives near me in SW Florida these days.
Cool. Is she still performing/recording nowadays ?Originally Written by straight acting
Evelyn is not recording or performing as far as I know. It's been a long time since I spoke with her though.
I notice she has a website on the internet with info/pics. It does not seem to ahve been updated for quite some time though. It stated she was under new management and was organising some performance dates.Originally Written by straight acting
