Probably both in a way  ,however it had to end and I think by 89 had certainly had it's day.Originally Written by phrankie
Would be interested in your opinion...did they kill Hi NRG, or did they bring it to the masses? :D

Ooooh now... Here we go... - The early SAW work was very impressive - especially their work with the artist O` Chi Brown (not HINRG) - The stuff they did in 84/85 with Divine/Hazell Dean/Dead or Alive was also impressive - but when it got to 1987 onwards it Just seemed they were churning stuff out that was well below standard (Sinitta/Big Fun/Reynolds Girls/mandy Smith etc...)Originally Written by phrankie
IMHO, they brought it to the masses. Unfortunately, it's pretty obvious that Hi-NRG is too sophisticated for those masses who, for whatever insane reason, preferred to gravitate towards MC Hammer, Tone-Loc and grunge.
NEIL!!!! MANDY SMITH???? BELOW PAR????? SHAME ON YOU!!!! :D
Sorry about that but apart from the odd track I was not that impressed...I do like POSITIVE REACTION tho...Originally Written by phrankie
Well it is one of my goals in life to own her album on CD...have been beaten THREE times on e-bay!!!! :D
Yeah - it goes for mega bucks on e-bay.. I had the cassette (bought in Greece 1989) but it went "astray"Originally Written by phrankie
I don't think they killed Hinrg as it were.
The music in the gay clubs slowly changed with the stronger influence of house. Nu-energy appeared. Handbag appeared , which was especially popular in gay clubs like Wild Fruit in Brighton. the main draw back however was that there were not many labels concentrating on Hinrg through the 90's and even today. Don't forget in the 80's we had at least 5 smaller labels doing the hinrg thang whereas now mainly 2.
The last one I saw i bid £20 for, and missed out by 50p because I was at work!!!!! :(
Keep trying matey :DOriginally Written by phrankie

Lol, I should hope not!!! :D
In my opinion.. Some of the finest SAW work was with HAZELL DEAN/LONNIE GORDON/O CHI BROWN - True classic HINRG/Dance tracks
Yes, the Hazell Dean/Lonnie Gordon stuff was fab...but I will always hold a candle for Bananarama too, lol :D
Im going to a BANANARAMA tribute next week - I love the new single 8)Originally Written by phrankie
Lucky you...the new track is fab!
Bananarama - Better version of More More More than Rachel Steven, better version of Last Thing on My Mind than STEPS, but best of all -I'm Moving On - loved it!
Yes...All HINRG classics... A new GREATEST HITS CD due out very soon :DOriginally Written by Bolly
