It seems to keep bubbling under and nearly going big again. On the very rare occasions I DJ I sometimes play stuff like megatron man and it sounds great and always elicits comments from the young folk :lol:
I think Hi NRG is well due a revival, and let's face it, 20 years ago the stuff that is popular now would have been called Hi NRG! Let's start the campaign!!!
Funny you should mention that - I am currently trying to organise something in Manchester gay village (along with fellow Forum member Sandra Dee) We were chatting last weekend and both decided it was hight time this great music was brought back into the fold - We are only in the early stages of planning but hopefully it will take off - Will keep you all posted :D
Sounds fab...you can count me in!!!
That would be terrific, although I sadly no longer live in the UK. I did try to get something started in London before we left , Ian was very keen, but I couldn't get the right venue on a Saturday night.Originally Written by Energyguy
Would love to bring along my friends to a night like that, to educate them! Often at work i will play some Hi NRG tracks in the classroom in the morning before the children arrive, and get comments like "This is good, what is it?" and "Can you copy this for me?" LOL :D
Thanks for the kind comments and your support - I really want this to take off !! I am convinced there is still a "market" for this music - that has sadly fallen by the wayside.
If you could find the right venue at the right price I'm convinced you would have a hit on your hands, the key to any promotion is publicising it well. I'm sure you will do brilliantly
Surely there must be someone we can write to...a record label or something, stating our passion? In the light of events such as School Disco and the rising popularity of nostalgia tracks from the 80's, it can't be long before Hi NRG has its day again!!!

I can`t beleive this music gets ignored - I was in HMV today and did not see one HINRG compilation CD for sale -Shame...
That's an outrage!!!! Let the revolution begin!!!! :D
It`s up to us to wave the flag and keep the spirit of HINRG alive !!! :lol:Originally Written by phrankie
It depends on how good the 80s DJ is. Granted, I didn't play Hinrg all night, but when I DJayed my 80s night in Worthing I ALWAYS included Hinrg hits as they were so popular down here.
The usuals were;
Male Stripper, Menergy, Black kisses, Cuba Libre, Searchin',
Best part of breaking up, I love my radio, Native love and many more.
Even the youngsters got into it!
That is the stuff we intend to play- and also material by Earlene Bentley/Carol Jiani/Evelyn Thomas/Eartha Kitt /Italo stuff etc..Originally Written by Davicillo
The plan is also to play some cool 70s disco tracks as well.
