Keep your eye on the Bigbear label's new Your favourite dancer vinyl eps. Vol one has four re-edits, one of which is familiar ( Keepz On Dubbing = Gary's Gang: Keep On Dancing) and 3 of which are maddeningly familar-sounding tunes I could not name. "I Need You (Babylove's Discomix) is an achingly beautiful italo track, "Is It The Lovers?" is a throbbing, burbling, semi-orchestral instrumental, and "Love Para-Extension" has gurgling synths and bursts of lovely female chorus. What can these things be - the label says "edits done for your favourite dancer! Keep em peeled!". In any case, only yesterday night I used the c 118 bpm "Love Para-Extension" in a club, it sounded quite nice and sleazy mixed out of Amanda Lear's "Tomorrow", and got the leather queens, goth lolitas showing off their pierced pussies and other Creatures Of The Night dancing happily around the torture instruments scattered around the dark floor (Ouch! from the wheel, Yes please Master! from the rack...). Other tunes spinned included a beatless, trad orchestral version of Ravel's Bolero, "1001 Nights Of Love" by Asha Puthli, Steve Miller's "Macho City (the last dubby part)", Serge Gainsbourg's "Love On The Beat", "Disco Circus" by Martin Circus, Nina Hagen's "Zarah" and naturally, a couple of Grace Jones titles, "Seduction Surrender" and "La Vie En Rose". After my set, Sami M took over with his fabulously vicious collection of exotic/erotic, seriously pounding dance stuff. Quite a night I must say.
