    Motown classics-disco versions

1963's "Stubborn Kind of Fella" (W.Stevenson-M.Gaye-G.Gordy) originally sung by Marvin Gaye. Disco Version (7:42) by a guy called Buffalo Smoke (RCA/1979). I'm talking about the remix of legendary DJ David Todd.

1964's "Dancing in the Street" (W.Stevenson-M.Gaye-I. Hunter) originally sung by Martha (Reeves) & The Vandellas. Disco Version (5:51) by Pete Bellotte's Trax (Polydor/1978).

:-? Everyone in the whole world, whether you're wearing formal or casual clothes, find a partner and dance in the street!

can't forget some of the Motown disco covers done by acts on the very same label in the late 70s.. so far I can think of a couple (I'm sure there were more)

The Dynamic Superiors - Nowhere To Run (1977) (originally by Martha Reeves & The Vandellas)

Bonnie Pointer - Heaven Must Have Sent You (1978) (originally by The Elgins)

and another act not on Motown

Paradise Express - Nowhere To Run (1979) (guess this was a popular one :P )

the only ones I can remember for now..

Hello Guys... :) Cool post here! What came to mind immediately was the 1977 Shalamar hit: Uptown Festival, which payed tribute to a lot of Motown acts as afore mentioned. It was a campy 12" record, but we had a lot of fun dancing to it.... (I just remembered that the last sampling on that record was the classic, "He Was Really Saying Something" but I can't remember who did it...(Knowing me, I'll remember the group just as I'm shutting down   ) Take Care... Dance versions of Motown hits.

Get ready - Carol Hitchcock 1988
Four Tops - Reach out I'll be there (saw mix) Four Tops 1988
You keep me hanging on - Kim Wilde or Reba McEntire (if you don't believe me on that one, listen to the 12" mix!).

Wasn't Passion's 'Dont Bring Back Memories' from '79 originally by the Four Tops? I also like Lydia Steinman's hi-nrg version of 'Touch Me In The Morning' from '84. 8)
